A lot of fun and easy to play
I enjoyed playing this game and it can be very funny. It also helps people know each other better. I've only used this twice, and I already notice some of the cards peeling apart.

Get to know your family and friend's likes and dislikes
Fun game which I played at my birthday party. Game play is pretty simple, but it gets confusing some times when scoring points because you have to remember who's who and if they gave or received the gift. I like that you get to know your family and friends likes and dislikes. Similar to the game Whoonu which is a much simpler version of this game.

You learn about your friends
Would you rather have someone buy you new cowboy boots, enroll you in a balloon-animal making class, or buy you a beer sampler? It's fun and surprising what you learn about people. This game is funnest when you know the other people, but would like to know more.

Family FUN!
My brother has the original Gift Trap, and we have spent hours playing. My daughter really liked their game, so we got her one, only we went with the calfornia version because it made us feel like we could have best of both worlds between his house and ours. This game is so much fun! It helps greatly if you know everyone you are playing with. My brother's in laws played with us once, I dont know them too well, and it was really hard to guess what types of gifts they would want.. a little bit dragging the game, but I did learn a lot about them.

I love Gift Trap but this California Edition is lame
I love Gift Trap but this California Edition is lame. Very few cards having anything to do with California and a lot of repeats from the original Gift Trap.

Very immersive game for family and friends
I am not so much into board games, but this one is exceptional. My 10 years old figured out how to plan and made all of us play. It was slightly difficult to build a mental modal at the beginning, but it made all the sense fairly quickly. I was most amazed to realize how little I knew about what my family and some of my friends really wanted.I would suggest, if you are into gifting each other, and wonder what everyone wants, you must organize this game once a year. This will clear all the confusion about what is a good gift for each other.

Great Game
In brief the game is about choices. Players are given a variety of gifts as described on cards, and they give them to their fellow players; they explain why they made the choice and fun ensues. It is really pretty interesting and reveals insights of how the players are perceived by others and understand themselves.I gave this game as a gift to a family that loves board games. It helps if the players know each other because most of the fun comes from explaining why a choice is made.
