it's a decent length..
I bought this specifically because it was a 15 inch version and if you're laying tiles 12" x 12" it's better.. First off this gauge is well made and does what it's intended for. When laying carpet tiles today it's been invaluable helping me get around the kitchen cupboards and any shape formed stays there until you straighten the gauge out again..I'm not that big into DIY but I'm positive that this will earn it's cost back in no time and I've thought of a few uses for it already, from big jobs to small..My kids have also used it for an art project for school, in fact that was it's first use in my house. The second was me laying carpet tiles, I really wish I had bought one of these years ago, it would have saved me a fortune in cutting things wrong or back to front, at least now I'll get things right a lot more often..

Fiddly and inaccurate used a paper instead
The sticks are a little stiff and the locking mechanism pushes the sticks closer together to stop them moving but this makes the measurement less accurate.It was quite fiddly to use around the pipes and the other protrusions along the wall and door. I went back to using paper to do this as it was easier to use.Perhaps the items which use screws to lock are more accurate. However this is little more than a gimmick for me

Ok functionality but not the best
This product is ok to use and does again and ok job. A little inaccurate at the edges and figures spread out sometime when trying to profile your mating work piece that you want to copy. It’s ok basically

Really easy and good quality
Have a 400 year old house where NOTHING is straight! This has been invaluable to do trim, etc. against old stone walls and ancient beams! Being able to lock it is a MUST!

Great for DIY
Bought this for DIY for laying floor. It is really brilliant for shaping of corners, to easily cut the shape. Brilliant invention, making it easy to shape and cut.

A bit too granular for tile trimming
It was a bit too granular for my personal requirements on tile cutting. Product will suit other people though. No complaints about the build quality
