Very pleasantly surprised.
Initially, I was hesitant to buy a G-Shock. I have about a dozen other watches including several "high-end" Swiss mechanical watches that cost thousands, so it's not like I *needed* another watch. However, I liked the idea of having a watch that I wouldn't have to worry about on my more adventurous, outdoorsy outings and vacations. I especially wanted a watch where I could easily change the timezone but still keep an eye on my home city time since I travel a lot (I have a Swiss-made mechanical world timer, but it's a pain to adjust because it doesn't automatically adjust for DST or the International Dateline). The GravityMaster series was an obvious candidate versus the MudMaster, but I liked the looks of the MudMaster better. Finally, I was worried that once I got it, I wouldn't wear it and I'd fall back to my other watches. I thought it would be too big, too garish, and too plastic-y.As soon as I got it and put it on, I knew I made the right choice. I have a 7-7.25" wrist and broad forearms, so the large size of the watch looked good and better yet it fit nicely and wasn't heavy at all. The watch is thick so long sleeves are difficult unless the cuff is fairly loose. Also, I'm glad I opted for the green strap version versus the one in black. I think the black strap would have been too severe. Overall, it's a nicely rugged, masculine look. For once, I actually read the manual and it didn't take long for me to learn 80% of the functionality. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to set the timezone as well. It's very intuitive after you do it once and you don't have to fuss with making sure the day/date is correct as you cross the International Dateline. The only annoyance is that when the timezone is set to Tokyo time, all the measurements switch to Metric from Imperial even if you had set it otherwise (i.e. meters vs. feet, Celsius vs Fahrenheit).I had fun with the ABC (altimeter, barometer and compass) functions, but use the altimeter with a grain of salt as it's only as accurate as the last time you calibrate it. The temperature basically reads the heat coming off your wrist since the sensor is right there. If you take the watch off, it'll adjust to ambient temperature, but takes a while. The LED light was handy in the dark airplane cabin and when all the lights unexpectedly turned off in my hotel room and it was pitch black.Otherwise, the buttons are easy to push, the whole watch feels solid, the sapphire crystal is as clear as my best watches, and it is comfortable to wear. I didn't worry about getting mugged, bumping into doors or trees or rocks, getting it wet or covered in sunscreen, and making sure the watch was wound or battery replaced when I wore it on my recent trip to Bali.Obviously, I'm really happy with it and I'm already looking forward to wearing it on my upcoming whitewater rafting trip and picking up one or two other G-Shocks to add to my collection.

Beast Master
At first the watch seemed big on my 6.5 inch wrist, as I am a big fan of 38-40 mm watches. This watch however is an exception in my collection. The watch is big but it is meant to be big as it has a purpose of being rugged and thus providing useful functions such as barometer, compass, altimeter etc etc. I don’t think a triple sensor could fit in a 40 mm watch. Keep in mind that the watch looks big because of all the resin guard around the dial, but if you just see the dial, it is a dial of a 45 mm watch. So this watch is meant to be big and that is the selling point that I decided to keep the watch. This is a beautiful time piece for a fraction of a price vs Richard Mille crappy watches which cost over $100-200k. This is the only big watch that would ever exist in my collection due to its practicality. You cannot go wrong with this watch, even if you have a smaller wrist. A true watch enthusiast would always appreciate this time piece. If someone says that it is a big watch then they have no clue about watches and can stick with their apple watches. I don’t care, I am not letting this time piece go away.

Awesome watch!
I've had this watch on my wish list for a few years now. Was waiting for the price to come down and be ready to go for it. Only dings are, I wish the lighting was a bit better than down by the "6" and that the LED screen was a bit larger. But to be honest, those are non factors. Great watch, looks cool and does everything I want it to. I'm a bigger guy, so a 2.2" watch is great for me.

Best GShock ever.
I have been wearing GShock watches since the 80s. This is, by far, my favorite one I have ever owned. I have been going back and forth between this watch and the Rangeman for a while. My main points for going with the Mudmaster eventually was the fact that isn't a linkable semi-smartwatch... just less to go wrong. At the end of the day, I just needed a WATCH. A very very tough watch. Something that can handle forest fires, stumpgrinding, tractor work, machinery maintenance, being filthy and beaten up constantly. Not to mention being able to handle rafting and any other form of abuse. Yes, the Rangeman with it's fancy GPS would be sweet, but I just didn't want to be dealing with linking to a smartphone, or having to possibly charge the watch. This Mudmaster is absolutely superb. I love the dedicated light button. I like being able to move the hands out of the way to see the small LCD screen. At times, it is a bit hard to see the LCD, but the watch hands / time is super easy to see at a glance. The compass is super accurate. I do NOT like other triple sensors with a digital North arrow... this actual physical arrow is much better. I just trust it more. Once I found the price had dropped from 750 to 520 it was a no brainer. Now, if you are the type of guy that works at a desk all day on a computer and never do hardcore dirty work or anything, than this would be bigtime overkill. If you don't have calluses on your hands and scars on your body, you don't need this watch. If you don't risk your life on a regular basis, you don't need this watch. But if you do construction, are in the military, fight fires, or do extreme adventures like canyoneering and rafting and climbing, etc.. then get this watch! As far as the size? Seems normal for me, but then again I don't have little girl arms.

Unbeatable Unusual Utility Watch
Most rugged watch yet with lots of necessary features to get you through anywhere in Mother Earth. To some, like me, this is one of the most beautifully crafted watch. I work in harsh environment and utilized G Shock watches for at least 14 years. This watch might seem expensive but if you are to invest money on your "tool watch" that never requires battery replacement, never have to worry about correcting time, never have to "baby" your watch for whatever task you are up against, then this watch is worth every penny you invest in. I work most of my time on a boat (Great Lakes area). You might say "Gulfmaster". But Mudmaster has all the features of Gulfmaster (except for moon age and tide graph) and I don't have to worry about mud or bezel getting banged up. Gulfmaster is great for Seamen but tide or moon age is rarely a concern for Great Lakes area. Mudmaster also features deeper bezel area (so you don't have to worry about your glass) and it actually has "sapphire crystal" instead of mineral crystal. True screw down crown is another feature that sealed the deal even though it costs $150 more than cheapest Gulfmaster.Mudmaster is less busy than other Master of G series thanks to well divided paint job on hands. Also LED light button is on front of the watch face, less confusing someone during harsh situation when muscle memory only relies on mass motor skill instead of fine motor skill.Size might be a concern for some. However on my 6.75 inch wrist, it sits surprisingly well thanks to inner rubber contour bands. Lume is not the greatest when compared to Seiko Monster. However it lasts for quite a long time when you expose it under sunlight.Overall, excellent product that is worth every penny you invest on purchasing this watch.

Is this the toughest watch in the world? - I think so
Yes this watch is shock proof - vibration proof - water proof - blast proof - nuclear attack proof etc - but not only that its CUSTOMS/POSTOFFFICE OPERATIVE PROOF AS WELL!! - yes thats what I said CUSTOMS AND POSTOFFICE OPERATIVE PROOF AS WELL!!Judging by the packaging on arrival I was a bit concerned that this watch had been inspected quite throughly in transit but not a mark on it unlike the packaging which was in a right state. This is one superb super tough does everything watch - If you buy only one watch this life time buy this one - if you buy two in a life time buy this twice.

superb watch
i absolutely love my watch. i just received my order today, which i put it in only 3 days ago! great delivery speed, kudos to the seller and Amazon! the package arrived in good shape. the watch was new and in original box with all the documents.the watch itself is amazing. such high quality and craftsmanship. yes it is massive and has an unmissable presence on your wrist but i love it, and my wrist is like a 12 yr old! :Di had a protrek prg-40 from 2002, which an unqualified watch repair person destoyed it for me in 2019 (sad story). since then i have been looking for something to replace that wonderful watch. after researching i found that the gwg-1000 might be a good choice. and it's fantastic: feature packed, has sapphire glass, is radio controlled, is solar and is a g-shock! this is an unbeatable watch and a great investment.

Awesome watch especially for it's size
Whoever prepared this watch for shipment to me: "Thank you very much, It was very well set up for where I live, I appreciate the attention to detail !".Awesome watch especially for it's size, less irritating on the wrist than a fitbit blaze that I returned. As a firefighter I'll be putting this watch through some paces but so far I'm not disappointed.
