excellent potting soil amendment.
I ordered this product as an amendment to my potting mixture. I use about a cup to a bushel of soil. I hear many people say to add charcoal to "make the soil sweeter". This may or may not work, but the reason I use charcoal is as biochar. Charcoal absorbs nutrients when you fertilize the soil, then releases them over the course of time. The small chunks of charcoal also act as a drainage material, which is useful because I grow a lot of cacti and succulents. It is too fine to act as the main drainage ingredient. for that, I use 5 mm pumice or gravel. The grains of charcoal in the bag I got were approximately 1 millimeter diameter. I like this because it means that the charcoal is more evenly distributed through the soil mass. There was some dust in the bag because charcoal is relatively soft, and friction during shipping and handling generates some dust, but there was very little, and this is not a problem in a potting mix. I find it washes out with the first watering. Otherwise, the granules were pretty uniform in size. I have noticed that I no longer have fungus gnats since I started using charcoal in my mix. I also started using pumice at the same time, so I don't know which is the cause of the change. I highly recommend using this as an additive to your potting mix, whether you mix your own or use a bag mix. I have it on my list of essential ingredients. 2/28/21 update. The first time I ordered this, the particle size was about one millimeter. The second time the particles were about five millimeters. There seems to be a considerable variance in size. As a soil additive, both sizes work for me. The larger size does work better to improve drainage. As I specialize in cacti and succulents, this is a plus. In any case, It still remains on my list of necessary supplies.

Works exactly as I had hoped.
We live in a small apartment with four indoor cats. Even though we do our best to keep the place clean and fresh, there is only so much you can do in that regard with that many animals. I ordered this so that we could divide it up, place large amounts of it in sheer pieces of fabric, and sew them up into little pillows filled with the activated charcoal. The idea being that you place them around the house near the litter boxes and they help absorb the odor from those boxes. I had read that this worked, and in fact it does. It's not a MIRACLE CURE, but there was an immediate and noticeable improvement in the air quality. It's a cheap, effective and completely natural way to deal with this issue that does not involve harsh chemicals of any kind. Believe the hype. It really works, or at least it did for us. Hope this info helps.

THIS WORKS!!! I'M AMAZED!!!
My mom has a nasty old stinky house. It was a rental before my mom purchased it. 3 bedroom house with an additional 1 bedroom apartment that was built on before zoning laws restricted that. Great investment that we planned for her to live in for a couple years while we slowly remodeled it. We got the one bedroom rental fix-up. But, we had several major family issues and we just haven't been able to get the main house done. The carpet has years worth of dog pee on it, air conditioner leaked last year and the house just smells like death! We have tried everything we could think of to control the smell. My mom had just completely given up. Then I found out about this activated charcoal! I got a bunch of mesh bags and put the activated charcoal all over the house. It took a few day, but now there is zero smell. It just smells like fresh air!

Great product needs a better container.
Bag opened up in transit fortunately the box kept it contained I managed to save most of it. A great product this is the second time I've ordered it works amazing for odor control. Perhaps a better sealed bag even a zip lock would be better in my opinion.

Great Customer Service
I ordered this on behalf of my boyfriend. For whatever reason, when I checked my Amazon orders, it said it had been delivered, but we had not received it. I directly messaged the company, and they responded very quickly. They looked up my order and saw that for whatever reason, it had been returned to them, so they asked if I would like the product to be sent again or a refund. We chose to have it re-sent and I swear to you, it was on my doorstep the next day. No headaches, and they were very polite. So for customer service alone, I give 5 stars. As far as the quality, I also have to give 5 stars, even though I don't personally use it. My boyfriend claims that this is a good quality product, so 5 stars it is.

Used for Grow room inline filter - Received 4x8 mesh as advertised
Figured I would leave a quick review as one of the top reviews shows pics of enviro supply vs pureT with pureT not being 4x8 mesh. Well, the 2 packages I received, sold by Isopure_Water, were identical in size to the enviro supply 4x8 coconut shell carbon. I thought I would give this a shot as it was slightly cheaper, in stock and I upgraded to a larger filter. I've used enviro supply for my 4" filter and can confirm that this 4x8 is identical in size as I used it to refill my 6" filter (upgraded tents so upgraded filters as well). If/when I ever refill my 4" again, I'll make sure to take a comparison pic then. Just a quick tip - vivosun 4"x14" filters use a little less than 5lbs of the 4x8 mesh carbon and the vivosun 6"x18" filters use about 7.5 lbs of this 4x8 mesh carbon. Just unscrew the top, drill out the rivets and fill-er-up, give it a bit of a shake while doing it and the filters will work like a charm.

Great homemade odor-eliminating bags!
I used this to make my own odor-eliminating bags. I scooped this into sachets and put them throughout the house - in the trash bin, in closets, the bathroom, etc. When I ran out of sachets, I used nylons that I cut and tied. Works great! Super odor eliminator. A bit messy - particles are really fine, but it does the job and at a much lesser cost than buying the bags pre-made.

As described and the perfect size carbon. Customs must have blown a gasket when this went under the scanner. Good thing Canada Post put a bag over it or it would have made the mail black.

very very fine/small -- did not hold in thick thread mesh back -- even went through a tissue paper
