Bob's Red Mill products offer consistent quality. I have always liked oats; normally bought rolled oats but have recently moved to the steel cut variety. These have a nice mouth feel (a bit reminiscent of pearl barley but a bit smaller and softer) and keep hunger away longer than the rolled ones. These are healthy as well as my total cholesterol has dropped by 25 points, and I can attribute that to nothing else besides eating steel cut oats on a daily basis. Many people complain about the cooking time and yes, these do take longer to prepare than the quick oat version but are worth the wait. The easy way to prepare is to make them in a rice cooker or even at very low temp in the oven overnight. Try and you'll be sold.

I rarely give 5 star reviews, an item needs to be perfect to get one. Well, this is perfect. Bobs is hands down is the best oatmeal, well any Bobs product is, I only buy them. So a perfect product with a great price deserves a 5 star review.

Best REAL oatmeal around - this is not flat flake's- that you may be use to - cooks up creamy & delicious - give it a try - I make a few bags and freeze portions of 3-4 - yum bag states it won oatmeal contest award- I believe it,

I make it in the instant pot. So easy to make it there and perfect every time. It tastes great and it is so creamy.

There is a hierarchy of oats. From worst to best: flavored packets of instant oatmeal instant oatmeal (and the brands are pretty much indistinguishable) old fashioned oats steel cut slow cooking oats and steel cut pinhead oats. This is the only way I know to get the pinhead oats. Yes, they take 20 minutes to cook, but there is a faint nuttiness and some fun texture to the result. Add some slivered almonds and smile!

I like adding groats to my breakfast or to smoothies so that I can get extra fiber in my diet, but it's not always easy to find groats/steel-cut oats where I live (even Holland & Barrett seems to have stopped selling this kind of product). If there's nothing available locally where I live, then I'm prepared to spend a bit extra to get this Bob's Red Mill product. It is a pricy luxury product, but I know it's good quality, and it's beneficial for my health.

It servees my purpse, and it's not my favorite. It does not cook up the way I like my steel cut oats. The only reason I bought it was because it was all I could find here in Bordeaux.
