Never Lose a Sock in the Wash! -- Never Sort Them Again!
Adding these to the collection! A few decades ago, I was living in a residence for a summer which had a housekeeper who took care of dinner, cleaning, and laundry. In explaining the rules of the residence, one of them was unlike any I have ever heard before. The housekeeper made it clear, "I don't sort socks! If you want them sorted, pin them together with Safety (Diaper) Pins." So, in the next few days, I bought a bunch of these at the local supermarket and did as I was told. I found that pinning them at the bottom of the heel area made them easy to fold and put away. These are sometimes hard to come by these days. Yes, I still use them! And, it's been over 25 years since I started. I never stopped pinning my socks together after I left the residence that year and assumed responsibility for doing my own wash once again. First of all, in all this time, I have never lost a sock! I might have lost a pair, but I never kept track of them that closely. I also learned something new that summer. I do not like to sort socks either! With this new knowledge, I was not going to go back to old ways. That would be quite stupid. What I thought might have been a cranky complaint, was actually a mouthful of wisdom.I still have most of the pins I bought that summer. Every now and then I restock. Occasionally, I lose a pin or the plastic breaks for some reason or another. These, however, are constructed for the safety of babies. They are stainless steel and do not rust. When they close, they lock in a way that they must be deliberately opened. They are strong and can last through several decades of weekly washings. If you do the wash for a family, you can assign different colors (like these fancy ones) or Cloth Diaper Pins Stainless Steel Traditional Safety Pin to each person so that you never have to figure out who belongs to which socks (another trick of the housekeeper). They are also a bargain when you consider the price. You may not see another review for these like this. But, I thought I would share the wealth by sharing the wisdom of that summer's housekeeper. I'm sure there are more than two of us in this world who have not liked sorting socks!Update 11/28/14: These are very beautifully colored and/or decorated, much nicer in person than in the picture. These are probably also the strongest and most well-made pins I have owned. I just purchase another set of 12.

not sure a diaper pin can be any better than OK
We got these for a first aid kit project. they are a diaper pin, not sure a diaper pin can be any better than OK. It does what it needs to do.

Attractive and cute. A little hard to open.
Cute, effective. A little hard to manipulate with my arthritic thumbs, so only four stars.

Regret purchase.
I would give these safety pins a half star, only I couldn't enter 1/2 star, quality is very disappointing. 1. A couple were seriously defective and couldn't be opened without braking a nail. 2. When you attempt to pin these, the design does not show on top, rather it automatically turns over to the blank/unprinted side.3. the gauge of the metal is too large to try to pin on clothing... as we used these for a baby shower, and I was concerned of damagingmy guest's fine clothing.

Not sharp enough for my colth diapers!
I'm giving these pins a two star because the price is cheap and the pins are cute. But since I had planned on actually using these pins instead of just looking at them, I can't give them anymore stars. My toddler has grown out of Snappis (which are the best way, IMO, to secure prefold diapers,) so I thought to try pins. These pins are not sharp enough to pierce through two layers of cloth diaper. My diapers are not extra thick or anything - just plain old cloth diapers, but these pins will not go through unless I use some of my body weight. And I'm definitely not using body weight when when I have a 2 year old inside the diaper. I've been pre-pinning the prefolds so my toddler wears them more like underwear, but unless you want to do that, I don't recommend buying these pins.

Excellent for laundering socks!
I use these to keep sock pairs together when I do my laundry. All of my socks are of the crew type, so they are thick enough to be able to use these pins without showing any damage to the socks. The points on these pins are sharp enough to easily go through my socks. I put the tops of both socks together and send the point through all of the tops of both socks so there is no chance of the socks drooping and becoming misshapen during their time in the dryer. These pins have no problem going through my crew socks and they go through quite easily. These pins take a bit of effort to open and close, so be careful when doing so. This is a good thing because there is no way these pins are going to accidentally open up. I have had these pins for a couple of months and they show no signs getting too easy to open and close. That is a good thing, especially if you want to use these for diapering a baby. These pins are 2 1/8 inches long measured from the top of the plastic to the far end of the metal spiral. This is a good length for laundering socks, but I put the measurement in my review for the benefit of those that might need that information for other purposes. I have only had these pins for a little over 2 months, which means I have laundered them 6 times. They show no sign of any wear and tear, but only time will tell. I use the medium setting in the dryer, so your mileage may vary. However, judging by the way they are constructed, these pins will probably outlast my socks.

I use them for my socks.
They are good sized and cute. As far as I can tell, made well.

Great for securing pocket contents
I use diaper pins to attach my keys to me when I go walking and have no pockets. And usually if what I'm wearing has pockets they are pathetically shallow so I will use a pin to help keep the pocket contents secured. For years my pins have been either plain steel or little pink ducks or other baby motif. Now with these cool looking pins I feel like I am looking a little snazzier when accessorizing with diaper pins. The pins seem to be made sturdily.
