No...you need a sturdy back drop.. or get a stand which has top and lower bar, where the clips can hold any back drop firmly.

This stand was suggested by amazon in combination with the neewer 2-in-1 screen collapsible backdrop...can it be hung horizontally on this stand?

If you want to place the backdrop horizontally in the T-Shape Backdrop Stand, the backdrop needs to be less than 59inch in size.
