Extremely Sharp!!
They weren’t kidding when they said the blades would be sharp. I wanted a pocket knife for wiggling with a locking blade. I’ve injured myself in the past with a pocket knife that didn’t lock. I researched extensively and sat on the fence about purchasing this for months, but finally decided to try it with my fingers crossed. I have not been disappointed. Once the blades are extended and locked they perform wonderfully, and the handle fits great in my hand. The locks are very tight, you have to make a point of taking your time to open and close these blades. I did note that for me I will have to grow my thumbnail out a bit more because it’s very difficult to pull out the blade. The blades close deep into the handle and the thumbnail notch is shallow. This makes is a bit difficult to open. I look at this as a positive, you can’t accidentally pull out or accidentally close these extremely sharp blades. You have to take your time which is good. Less likelihood of hurting yourself. I hope this all makes sense. Hopefully I never have to buy this again only because I I am hoping it lasts for life. I will definitely though be buying other blades from them in the future.

Very nice knife, extremely sharp, with locking blades.
My husband received this knife yesterday, three days early. He is a beginner and wanted a knife to use that would stay sharp and that had locking blades which he considered to be a very important safety feature. The knife fits nicely in his hand, it arrived very sharp, and we had no trouble opening each blade one at a time. It's not a pocket knife like we're all used to in the sense that the blades do not snap back in place when closing, you have unlock them then push each blade closed. We had no issues with the blades sitting too high when closed, the cherry wood inlay on the handle is nice and helps add some grip to the aerospace-grade aluminum frame. We also purchased the Flexcut Knife Strop, the long block not the multi-angled kit, to ensure we correctly maintain the factory edge. We would recommend this knife, along with the knife strop, to anyone thinking about whittling as a hobby. We're very happy with our purchase.

Sharp!
I tried buying a different whittling knife for travel and it was dull and nigh unusable out of the package. This though? Sharp and useful right out the gate. I'd absolutely recommend this tool for travel whittling needs, or anything that requires something sharp, I guess.

Finish could be better - locking mechanism difficult to unlock
Overall, okay. There are three blades. All three blades are sharp, seem firm-doesn't flex. Finish is uneven, not level-The frame is fine. The decorative insets on sides are not flush with the frame. The blades do not open smoothly. An audible grating sound can be heard when the blades are opened/closed. The locking mechanism works well to keep the blade locked open. The locking mechanism is a sprung steel "blade" that pops into place when the blade is open, preventing the flat end of the blade to move. To close the blade requires the sprung steel lock to be moved horizontally. On the small blade, I had to use a screwdriver/pry tool to move the locking mechanism to allow the blade to fold back into the frame. The other two blades are just hard to move the sprung steel locking "blade" with a finger, or even a fingernail, as shown in the corporate youtube video. I have opened and closed the blades and moved the mechanism many times thinking that it needed to be broken in with no success. It whittles well, but for the same money, the Case three blade whittler is a much more elegant and better finished knife that whittles equally well.

Great whittling knife.
I was doing a lot of research on whittling knives and decided on this one. I made a great choice, I'll try others later on but as for now, this tri-jack will serve it's purpose. I am a total beginner to whittling so I wanted a knife dedicated only for whittling. I am no stranger to blades though. The tri-jack came razor sharp out of the box. All 3 blades. I am slicing basswood like apple slices. I have a lot of control while using this blade on the basswood while carving. The locking blades gives me a peace of mind while i am gripping the handle.I bought the strop with this blade because i read that you are not supposed to sharpen these with stones. Just maintaining the edge with a strop is enough for a razors edge will do.

Had to return... wobbly blades
I really like this knife -- having 3 different sized blades in one tool is not a new concept by far, but it's really hard to beat Flexcut blades for sharpness right out of the box and beyond.I did, however, need to return the knife I ordered, and I still haven't ordered a replacement (couldn't replace immediately because I would need to order through a different seller). First, I noted that two of the three blades wiggled when extended. They shouldn't: they should be locked tight. That wiggle made for some dangerous carving. It seemed that the edge that held the lock was ground too much, thus the movement even when the blades should have been locked out tight.Returning the item was no problem, even though I had already tossed out the original packaging (thanks, Amazon!), but like I said, still only thinking about reordering this item, despite my vote of 4 stars. It's just that the price-point for this item is so significant, compared to what else you can buy for $60. I've found that even with my fancy Flexcut blades (and I've got a few), I still gravitate toward cheaper, replaceable items ... largely due to worry about snapping or chipping the blade on tough materials like peach stones (which has happened). So, I use a combination of utility knife blades and various sorts/shapes of hobby/exacta blades. These are all carbon steel, so therefore can be sharpened (and resharpened) to a razor edge, and are of course replaceable if broken.Certainly they don't have the portability or the coolness of the Flexcut pocket knives, but hey. Just giving you guys some of my own experience with this product and others.
