How to Play Pop Up Pirate Set the barrel on a level surface and insert the pirate toy into the opening the top. This readies the spring mechanism which is triggered when a toy sword enters the correct slot. Players choose a color and take turns sliding their swords into a slot of their choice. Each player enters a sword in turn until one releases the spring and sends the pirate flying into the air. The player who makes the pirate pop loses and the other players continue until there is one player remaining, who is the winner. After each launch, the trigger slot is changed so it is a surprise every turn. When pushing the swords into the barrel, make sure kids do not have their faces too close as the lightweight pirate toy can jump up to 2 feet into the air. Exciting Variations of Gameplay To ensure your family never gets bored of the game, there are many ways to play Vila Pop Up Pirate aside from the most common approach. Instead of the first person to pop up the pirate being out of the game, you can play a no winner, no loser version. Everyone celebrates the pirate being released and the game begins again. Young children can take turns sliding in swords regardless of the color. For more than four players, kids can be grouped into teams representing each color. Another variation is to roll a dice to see how many swords to stick into the barrel on your turn.
