Surprisingly sturdy
Pros: Surprisingly sturdy. The bar is one piece, stainless steel, and it is quite tall. The stands are surprisingly heavy for their size and price point. Good ring stands for highschool or hobby use.Cons: Aside from the stainless steel pole, these ring stands are cast from some of the cheapest pot metal I have seen in a long time. The right angle clamps are so cheap that they feel like plastic despite being metal, and may even snap if you think you are going to crank them down. I didn't break anything, but woo do the clamps flex. Be gentle, these are not vintage USA ring stands. One stand isn't level and wobbles without a business card inserted under one leg, but this isn't an issue.Tools: A 14mm socket is handy for tightening down the nut, otherwise the rod will wobble.Overall, I would buy them again and they will serve me well.

Poor design and construction
I bought this ring stand specifically for an application for mounting a homogenizer. The product was described as heavy duty but when I received it I discovered that it was far from heavy duty. Normally in a heavy duty ring stand the base plate is solid iron, at least half an inch thick. In this case the base plate is hollowed out and lighter than most base plates. Furthermore, the design of the base plate mounting system does not inspire confidence. Instead of using a threaded hole that matches the post to be mounted to the base plate, the base plate has a through hole with no threads. The post has its threads but the only way to attach the post to the base plate is with a single relatively small nut. The through hole in the base plate is substantially larger than the diameter of the post making the mounting of the post subject to substantial movements if the nut becomes at all loose. This is a very poor design for mounting glassware containing hazardous chemicals if you're worrying about hazardous chemicals being spilled. Furthermore, there is no provision for any sort of locking mechanism like a lock washer or a lock nut. In addition, the hardware intended to be mounted to the post appears to be quite cheap in terms of design and construction and probably not a good choice for use with glassware containing organic solvents.

don't expect high quality
quality is definably on the cheap side.... not for a quality lab, but would work as a a cheap fix

Extractions? You need one of these.
If you are doing extractions, you're going to need one of these. This is a good quality product, for a good price.

As advertised
Heavy duty as advertised. No possibility of tip-overs. Solid construction - no chips or damaged pieces. Looking forward to using it for chem class experiments this year.
