Where are these pencils made? Thank you.

China. Ticonderoga are not made in the USA. There are only three USA manufactured pencils; Musgrave in TN, General in NJ, and CalCedar. All three make excellent inexpensive school pencils.

Has the packaging and count gotten better?

I haven’t ordered any in the last quarter, but I have only had 1 box out of a many that arrived upside down and spilled out over the packing box. All of the other boxes ordered have has sufficient foam padding to hold the 1000 pencils in place.

Are these made in China and thus overpriced, inferior crap?

I use them for my students in my classroom and they hold up really well. My students have these until they are super short because they like them so much.
