Very comfortable, but not as warm as advertised
I expected more from 800 fill down in terms of warmth. Don't get me wrong it is a great mid layer but I thought it would be warmer. That said it is extremely light and comfortable and layers up well. I use with a base layer, fleece, then this coat with a wind break waterproof shell on top. It works well and remove the fleece layer when too warm.Overall, very satisfied, but just not ecstatic. Could be better. Big fan of Mountain Hardwear too...

Good Quality Jacket
I bought this for my husband and he really likes it. It isn't the most flattering jacket to wear but it is great for weather above 30 degrees. It isn't as warm as I had hoped but it is a good jacket for weather that isn't below 30. It fits narrow and that helps to keep the wind from blowing up from the bottom.

Q Shield
There is a major difference between the 2012 and 2013 (current) editions of this jacket in that the 2013 edition features Mountain Hardwear's "Q Shield" waterproof down. The jist is that down is an incredible incredible insulator, but its weakness is water. If it becomes soaked, the feathers stick together, it loses its loft, and thus it loses its insulating power. However, waterproof down is a relatively recent (last few years) advancement in down technology. Each individual feather is coated with a water-repelling compound (Q Shield for mountain hard wear) that prevents the down from taking up moisture and sticking to itself. I think this coating works for both liquid water as well as condensed water (like what you get when you work up a humid bubble under your coat when hiking or running). All this is in addition already being encased in a water-repellant shell (so the down is less likely to meet external water to begin with)What's the point? Although the "Q Shield" is not featured in the description here, the jacket I received is in fact the 2013 model and has tags indicating that it does have the new water-repellant "Q Shielded" down. Of course, the fit is excellently slim, the jacket is ridiculously light, it is wind-resistant, and overall it feels like wearing a cloud of warm air.

I was not happy.
I returned this right away. I got the yellow due to the price but I found that you could see right through the fabric and see the different colored feathers inside so that it made the jacket look dirty. I also put it on for a few minutes in the house and it did not seem that warm to me, but that may be deceiving also. Just my fist impressions. I lost about fifty dollars in shipping costs, so not to happy about that either.

Awesome Jacket - Fits Perfectly
I had tried on several similar coats but none of them had long enough arms so I had passed up on purchasing any of them. I read another posted review by someone who said they were 6'4" and it fit perfectly. I am 6'4" so I was excited to give it a shot. I was excited when it arrived and fit as advertised. It is exceptionally warm and the light weight is great for all of the backpacking that I do.

Looks Good
The jacket looks really nice. I got a large. I am 5'9" and 188 lbs and fit. I could wear a medium I think. I am using the down jacket over a fleece jacket at Yosemite in May 2014. It is $219.00 expensive but hey, what are you gonna do?

Would def buy again.
This jacket is amazing. Packs small. Fits slim, but not tight anywhere. Warm. Not water proof obviously but holds out better than I would have thought for down. When/if this one wears out, I will most definitely re-purchase. I normally wear a large, but medium was a great fit.
