The Odyssey (Classics Illustrated)

I read these classics comics as a kid and it is wonderful to see them available again. Beautifully illustrated and they still cover all the essential details. I wish they would issue these for Kindle as well.

I would never have the discipline to wade through The Odyssey but have always been curious about it. Yeah, I could have gotten the SparkNotes or Cliff's Notes but recall this series, then called, "Classic Comics" from my childhood, so I decided to get it. It's way too expensive but it feels like an acceptable splurge. I got what I wanted: an easy-to-understand summary, including illustrations, of the Odyssey, and a useful discussion of it at the end of the book.

My 10-year-old son and I enjoy reading this both together and separately. We love the full text version of the Odyssey, but it is also nice to read a graphic novel that does justice to this epic tale.

Easy read. Follows story line. interesting.

These books are perfect if you have a child , who resists reading. They are easy to understand classics with black and white illustrations. I plan to donate mine to my local school. they are especially perfect for boys, who prefer more active participation in their younger years. Girls tend to enjoy reading more as it is a quiet and calm activity. ( I read these as a child and am delighted to find them again. Only noticeable difference is mine had coloured illustrations.)( I taught English for 3 + decades so know something about children.)

Let's just say they used original translation in the comic book, old English in weird sentences that my 10 year old did not understand at all lol
