About the Author Felicia is from São Paulo, Brazil and has lived in NYC since 2006. She graduated in Music Education from Faculdade Santa Marcelina, with a specialty in Psychomotor Education from ISPE-GAE and in music and movement for children from UNISA. She holds a master's degree in Music Education with emphasis in Cognition from New York University. In Brazil, Felicia worked as an educator and as a choir conductor. In the USA, Felicia founded the school Ciranda Cirandinhas, which gave rise to Brasil em Mente, a cultural organization that promotes the language and culture of Brasil (www.brasilemmente.org). Felicia wrote the books "Português Nosso de Cada Dia - a method of teaching Portuguese for family members" and "Uma história sem pé nem cabeça" (co-authored with Rosane Hirszman). She also has an article published in the Portuguese Language Journal, and has presented workshops and papers at Georgetown University, Harvard University and other conferences about the Portuguese language. She is the creator, with the collaboration of other initiatives that promote this language, of the Day of Portuguese as a Heritage Language (May 16th). Read more
