First of all, allow me to provide a bit of background on why I am getting this particular knife block.Not everyone always purchases the FULL SET of knives that comes with storage block, and not every knife from the SET will be used. I also have kitchen knives that's from Japan & Taiwan, the kitchen knives in Asia is DIFFERENT. So, when you have no intention to spend big dollar for a full set with a storage block, or you have your frequently used Kitchen Cutting Knives that doesn't fit with the old block. This is the block for you - there is no HOLE to limit the size of your knife, they can be in ANY ORDER you want, it's just flexible.Now, there are some design without the clear cover, granted, it's very sleek, modern and clean looking, but if you are clumsy, or any shaking, the knives can all falling off and start making damage to flesh and knife alike. Therefore, I choose this design.What I am also very happy with this design, the bottom of the clear cover, is OPEN, means, it's EASY to clean up when some careless individual ( I unfortunately live with a few of them... ) forgot to wipe the knife dry ( clean ) before place it back, I have a chance to keep the block CLEAN.I have 11 knives - various size/purpose and 1 scissor now stored in this 10-inch block. I am just so so happy that I purchased it. Solid build, clean and nice looking.

Holds well and the measurements on the site are accurate. Be care of getting it dirty. A little bit of grease particulate fell between the wood and plexy and it is a pain to get clean. Otherwise, no complaints.

Fits beautifully on my kitchen counter! Easy to access knives while the protective cover is a great safety feature! Beautiful and practical addition to my kitchen!!!

I love how clean & sleek my knives look now. My old butcher block was clunky, heavy & looking pretty nasty. I always felt like pulling the knives out of those slots dulled the knives. The only problem is that I have to pull the knives out from under the cabinet to pull out the longer knives. It’s worth the bother though.

This was a big improvement over the block that came with our knives. We did have to move them to a place that had enough clearance to take out the larger knives but that wasn't a big deal.

My knife block took up too much space so I thought I would try this. It probably takes up about the same amount if space but it doesn't stick out into the counter space as much.I can put my 6 steak knives in the back side and the 7 other knives on the front side with still room for a couple more on each side.I don't have wall space for a magnetic holder on the wall. I also don't have upper cabinets. So I don't have to worry about whether I can remove knives from this holder.The plastic covering on both sides is okay. I haven't needed to clean it yet so don't know if that will be a problem or not.The knives stay put, ie the magnets are strong enough to hold the knives in place.Even the heavy chef knife stays where I put it.I would certainly recommend this if you are looking to ditch the knife block but have your knives handy and not in a drawer where they get all banged up and risk cutting everyone.

This magnetic block is great: Attractive on my countertop with a small footprint. Displays my set of Japanese knives beautifully! The magnets at the very ends aren't very strong, so you just need to make sure narrower knives aren't placed there or they'll slide down.

Worked out well for me. Holds 12 knives, including 2 cleavers & a bread knife.

I don't think the magnets are that strong, even my smallest knives don't sit straight, they lean to the side and sink down. For bigger knife's it's less of an issue because they're long enough to touch the base anyway proving extra support.Also this block doesn't have any suckers for the base, meaning it moves around a bit whenever I remove knives. Slightly disappointed given the price.

Prior to this, I have used wooden blocks, the global knife stand and the bodum block but these were all problematic - too chunky because of the shape or just not big enough to fit all my knives. This block holds a set of 6 global knifes, a big cleaver and a couple of extra knives. It sits next to a wall and looks compact and sleek.A minor point: occasionally the knives do not stay upright and can sit an angle.
