Anatole and the Cat

Our favourite family book!
The series of Anatole books livened up the ritual of bedtime stories for our family 40 years ago! We love it still with the unique Frenchness of the mouse Anatole's reaction to tasting cheeses.

So glad this is still in print - Vive Anatole, the mouse magnifique!
I loved this book as a small child - it now sits on my 5 year old daughter's shelf and is a regular bedtime favourite. Anatole, head cheese taster in the Fromagerie Duval, is disturbed at work one night by -quelle horreur - a cat. Discover how he and his assistant Gaston deal with the feline threat... The book is charmingly written, with lots of Parisian style and atmosphere, even down to the turn of phrase. Now I know it's still available I think various godchildren and small cousins will be getting a copy in due course!

Anatole an the Cat

I hope all of the Anatole books get republished.
In the age of children seeking superheroes, Anatole is a refreshingly delightful one. His super power, other than his expertise with smelling and tasting cheeses, is his willingness to think through problems and solve them. My grandsons are huge fans. So am I.Highly recommend this all of the Anatole books. I only wish I had known of them when my children were little.

Great story for children with exposure to french language
I gave the first book of this series; Anatole, to a family with one French parent and one American parent and it was a big hit with the parents and the three toddlers so the next holiday I gave them Anatole and The Cat which was also very enthusiastically received.Anatole and the Cat reinforces the concept of honor, hard work and problem solving that was introduced in the first book of the series; Anatole. The book about a Parisian mouse has been translated into English but still includes some french words that the children love to hear and repeat. Anatole really is a Mouse Magnifique!

Cover came ripped.
This is my all time favorite children's book. I have an original hardback copy. I bought one on here for a baby shower where they asked for books instead of cards and it came with the cover ripped. Very disappointed. I will mend it and give it away anyway. Super upset. I was so excited

Cute book, not as good as the first one
It's a nice book that continues the story of Anatole at the cheese factory. The first book was nicer, but this is a must if you liked the first one. Introduces a clever way of catching the cat and Anatole is once again the hero. Drawings are wonderful in red white and blue.

Anatole - la souri la plus contente de Paris!
We love the first Anatole book, so this one was a no-brainer. Anatole is great, but Gaston is my favorite.
