If you are curious about the new wave of VR technology, then this is the perfect place to start. First of all, it's very affordable at less than $20, so it's a low-risk investment. Second, there's already a fair amount of VR apps for both Android and iOS stores, including virtual tours (e.g., France or the solar system), games, and more. The Kit: The kit is very easy to setup, and comes with a QR link to help you get everything ready. I used it with my iPhone 6s and was up and running within five minutes. Yes it is cardboard, but that's what makes it a cheap investment. The cardboard feels plenty sturdy for the use it will get. It comes with a "button" on the top for screen interaction. Since most VR apps out there are still very simple, this is all you'll need--works flawlessly. The VR Experience: There are a few times in my life an emergent technology has made me say "Wow." This is one of those times. You will read all about the immersive capabilities of VR, but until you experience it firsthand, you have no context (aside from your everyday reality I guess...). The first thing I tried was the tour of France, which puts you right next to the Eiffel Tower. Having never been there, it was positively stunning to be able to look up and up, all the way to the top. It gives you a much better sense of scale. Having your peripheral vision engaged makes for a wholly new experience compared to seeing it on a computer monitor. I did not get much of the nausea some other users report, but I completely understand why that happens. Try it out in small increments first before spending 20+ minutes straight in VR.The Finer Points: While the VR is truly stunning, it is largely dependent on the phone you're using. The iPhone 6s, while technically a great phone, is not as pixel-dense as other smartphones out there. In VR, I can usually see pixels. It's certainly not a dealbreaker, but it's also something that limits the experience just a bit. If you have a phone with a better screen, I can only imagine it gets better.Another small issue is the lenses. While they serve their purpose, they cannot be fine-tuned or adjusted in any way. You must position yourself to get the best experience, and even then there will almost certainly be some distortion in areas of your field of view (FOV). I accept this as part of the deal for getting a VR kit at less than $20. With pricier sets comes a better quality FOV (at least we should hope), but for what this is, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.Overall I think this is a great value. The technology is only going to get better with time, and it's already pretty cool. As long as you accept this kit for what it is, and you're not trying to compare it to the Oculus or Vive, then I think you will be very pleased.

and I didn't have much of a problem with the quality of the picture like a few have said they had
Somewhat unfairly, the review of 3 stars is also due to the lack of compelling content. I know available content has nothing to do with the product itself, but it did lend to the overall disappointing experience I had with the product.Assembly wasn't too difficult, and I didn't have much of a problem with the quality of the picture like a few have said they had.One of the things I would have liked was some way to control what I was doing without having to take the viewer off. It is supposed to have some kind of capacitive button on there, but I couldn't get it to do anything.I was using it with an LG G4- so forgive me if my phone isn't compatible with the (capacitive button) feature. You can often get some kind of version of Google Cardboard for next-to-nothing (if not nothing) and I'm sure you're getting a pretty decent version compared to other Cardboard products, but my overall experience with this product was not quite satisfying.

Great Quality & Design, Low Cost VR Solution
Excellent quality, already comes assembled, just slide it out of the outer-box, remove the two protective lens film, unfold and place phone in and that's it.A few things I noticed using a 1st Generation Motorola G LTE, pixel density, not the fault of the kit but all I have currently, about what I expected in terms of resolution, if you have one of the higher end smart phones with a 1080p or 1440p, I'm sure it's a lot better. If you are in my boat, then don't expect great resolution aka screen door effect. The content varies from worse to better. Also I had to manually align the phone after starting Google Cardboard, EightOnes uses a Rubberband to keep the phone from sliding and it grips quite nice, but I found myself looking up into the nose piece to get the split screen aligned on center.Phone cases, may or may not need to be removed, I had to remove my phone case (Cruzerlite Bugdroid TPU) to get it to fit.V2 button, I never had a V1 with the magnet, but the V2 button/lever works well.Low cost VR experience that's worth the price.

Cool gadget and it works
Cool gadget and it works, but you get what you pay for. For a sub $20 VR kit it's fine and looks ok. I've used it a few times and maybe I just haven't found the right app yet to make this stand out. But, as long as you go into it knowing you are buying a piece of cardboard then you should be fairly happy with it.
