A great way to warm your feet in motorcycle boots.
First, the socks: The socks themselves are really nice. They're well made, fit comfortably on my foot and are high enough that the battery pocket doesn't interfere with my 8” high motorcycle boots. (Size 9 shoe, XL sock for me and size 9 women's shoe, L sock for my wife) I can feel the heating pad on the sole, but it isn't a problem for my use. The 4000 ma batteries are substantial, but not too heavy or large. They aren't the wimpy batteries that promise long run times and then disappoint, but once in the battery pocket, you'll forget they are there. The heat control button is on the battery and is easy to get to. The battery power indicators are bright and easy to see. The charger has two terminations so that the batteries can both be charged at the same time. The spec's say the charge time is 8 hours, but the initial charge on mine took a little longer. (Charge until the lights on the batteries and on the charger all turn green) The low setting is comfortably warm without a liner sock. Today I rode 70 miles in temps between the mid-40's and the mid 50's. Even at 75 mph my feet were comfy on the low setting. Second, the why: Motorcyclists who ride in the cold months are always looking for a way to keep warm. You would think it would be simple enough to hook up some heated gear to the electrical system on a bike and be done with it. And, it would be except that many, if not most bikes have little excess electrical capacity to run heated gear and keep the battery charged simultaneously. I ride two-up with my wife on tours and with both of us running heated gear we are close to our touring motorcycle's excess capacity. For the two of us, these socks save us about 40 watts and keep us from getting to the “marginal point”. I think these are a hit and they are highly recommended by me.

Give them a little time, and they will serve you well
I have had these for over a year, and I've worn them 6 or so times to shovel snow and to snowboard. They have kept my feet warm in temps down to single digits F. I find they work best if I power them on for 15-30 minutes before I am ready to go into the cold, as they take a while to warm up, but that's not a problem. The battery always outlasts my activity (typically several hours for snowboarding), which is important, and the battery placement is perfect -- the battery sits just above the top of my snowboarding boot. The fit is excellent. The small wire running up to the battery does feel a little odd at first, but I've gotten used to it pretty quickly. All-in-all, I'm quite happy with these heated socks.

The perfect heated socks skiing.
These socks are the real deal. They are well designed, well made and work great. I was concerned about how they would perform as ski socks, but they were as comfortable as any ski socks I have used, very cushiony, could not feel any wires and kept my feet toasty warm. With ski boots they rise high enough on your calf so that the battery pouch clears the top of the boot. There are three heat settings that are super easy to adjust from the top of the sock where the pouch is. Turning them off and on is equally easy. Charging is easy and quick and mine lasted the whole day. Most of the time I just kept them on the first setting which was just enough. I wear men’s size ten and they were perfect. You could probably go up and down some from there. The final point Ill make is what a bargain these are. Don’t spend a fortune for anything else. These are a super value. As far as washing. I washed them by hand just to be safe and dried on a rack. All I can say is I wished I had these socks sooner.

Freezing toes and very cold feet
I really had a chance to try out these socks when I had to clear ice from my driveway after all the slush froze solid. I turned the socks on with fully charged batteries and headed out for some ice breaking. After about an hour, my efforts to chop ice futile the ice won! My socks also failed miserably! My toes were extremely cold and the rest of my feet very cold! The bottom of the sock by arch of my feet were barely warm. The rest of my feet were very cold and this is just over 1 hour of wear. The batteries still showed a good solid charge. Amazon was kind enough to except the return. I would not recommend these socks on a cold day standing on ice! Inside ok. Not outside! !

Great idea but.......
These socks are a great idea but.......the charge does not last long. There is not a whole lot of heat. The socks fit very tight. You feel the heat pads like a crackly bag on the bottom and then the charge boxes need to be slid into a pocket in the socks. Just slightly uncomfortable.

Pretty Good Socks
I live in the northeast so it gets pretty cold in the winter time, also my house is on the colder side with hardwood and tiles so Iget cold walking around in the house. I ordered these socks and been using them for about a week now and I love then. I wore then outside for 2 snow storms already and my feet were definitely warm!! I love that I don't have to come into the house after shoveling snow and my feet don't feel like ice. There are different heat settings so I use a higher one for outside and a lower setting when I am inside of my house. They do take a while to get used to because the heating element is at the bottom near your toes so it felt weird the first few times I wore them. After a while I got used to it and it was fine. I also hand wash the socks and air dry because I do not want the wires to get destroyed.
