The most important thing is not to let them be chew toys, they are interactive between you and your dog as noted in the listing as -(IT IS NOT A CHEW TOY - Tug Toys are meant for interactive tugging between you and your dog only. We strongly recommend that you do not allow your dog to keep the toy after interaction has finished. Handles are not for Biting). If you are asking about cleaning or washing, they can be washed even in a machine, but only hang to dry, they cannot be put in a dryer the heat would melt the inside stuffing, it takes a day or so to dry complete by hanging.

Q: What is the benefit of using this type of tug over cotton rope tug?

Some opinion is that it isn't healthy for a dog to chew and swallow the fibers from a tug rope. I don't know how correct that is but I've used both. I just like this product because it gives my dog a good area to bite down on and hang on to as I train him. For me it's just more of a preference to be honest. There are times I will play tug or keep away with a towel. So just do what works.
