Works great, fast data transfer, convenient for travel, & cheap price
Run the "CyberLink BD &3D Adviser" as recommended in the screenshot (paper that came inside, with the drive). One of my computers worked fine. The second had jerky motion playing BluRay movies. Adviser program correctly identified my system, and advised against BluRay movies in that system.I haven't had this long, but I've used it a lot. You don't realize how much you need it until the old one breaks. Great price, great product. Hopefully it's reliable long term, I'll update here if not.First, it's fast! The one I had before would transfer BluRay data around 5-6mb/s. This drive is 10-14mb/s. This drive uses two usb connections, one for data and one for power, and includes a USB to USB-C adapter. I use the adapter for the data, and plug the power directly into my only full size USB port.I was concerned at first, the outside of the box doesn't say BluRay, on the inside the paperwork does. The BluRay part works good, and a DVD movie played. I haven't tried a cd rom.

Solid drive for a decent price
Bought this because my desktop PC did not come with an optical drive, and am quite satisfied with it. Box contains a USB 3.0 cable, as well as a USB-C adapter and an additional power cord which I assume is for powering the drive by an external USB power source if you are using it on a device that doesn't have enough power capacity to power the drive by itself (Laptop, tablet etc).Tested the drive with Nero InfoTool, and it supports most all CD, DVD and BD writable media with the exception of HD-DVD. The only issue I had was that the drive I was shipped was set to region code 2 (Europe), while I am in USA. However, you are allowed 4 region changes before the drive is locked to one region, so changing to region 1 was very simple to do in Windows 10.Installation was simply plug the drive into an available USB 3.0 port. No additional software/drivers were necessary. (Not counting any CD/DVD/BD authoring software to burn discs.)

works great
I received the Item with one of the cables missing (it happens sometimes no big deal) any way I bought a new cable for $7.00 now the device works perfectly. I am pleased with the seller and would buy this again.

Defective drive
TL:DR - I got something different than others, but in the same packaging. It did not work, and I went through 5 hours of troubleshooting and tech support before I could diagnose the optical drive itself was not working.Reading the product info, it's pretty clear this is a Chinese build.Based on other pictures I figured it was a Chinese package around a Pioneer drive for a laptop. Mine was NOT the same internals as the picture; it claimed a Matshita BD-MLT UJ240AS core. Out of the box, it was not working. There was nothing marking the brand of the actual drive, and I could not get drivers to update or roll back.I still could not play anything, so I tried several DVDs. It turns out the drive had been set to region 2. However, to reset the region I had to go through 5 DVDs until I found one that would let me update the region. This was because the drive couldn't even consistently read the region. After dealing with the region, I was trying to play via VLC. No luck. This drive says use Power DVD. Still no luck. I had to download multiple .dll before anything would show. At that point, I could play a majorly artifacted DVD playback. Same situation for all DVDs.Tried a Blu Ray. Couldn't even start video even after adding AACS support. It couldn't even recognize that there were CDs in it.I checked if latency and power were issues, and no. I tried making an ISO of a disc to see if it was lag with the drive, but the ISO was corrupt in the exact same way as when I tried playing video. That was the point where I realized the optical drive was consistently mis-reading the discs. If you know how to rip DVD and Blu Ray, you might get a functional drive after some love and care. If you are just trying to play Blu Ray, DVD, and CDs but are not tech savvy, stay FAR away from this seller.
