Great deer deterrent solution
Having frequent visits by deer to our backyard was never an issue (actually it was a pleasure to watch them!) until we installed new landscaping. It became a problem as we saw the tender new growth of our new plants being nibbled away nightly. While searching for a solution, I looked at a number of popular deer deterrents and even tried a few that proved ineffective or too smelly to continue using. After all, we added new landscaping so that we could enjoy the backyard, but the odor from some of the popular deer deterrents worked more as a human deterrent! Then I found the Hoont sprinkler solution. What a terrific idea! I ordered 3 units to serve as a "water fence" between the open lot behind us and our backyard. And since installing them 2 weeks ago, we have not seen the first deer enter our planting bed. And there has been no evidence of additional damage to the new plants. So far, the system seems to be working perfectly. As those who are looking for deer deterrents understand, deer are very adaptable and clever where food is concerned. Time will tell if they figure out a way around the sprinklers, but for now they are staying away. The units were very easy to assemble and install. I plumbed them in sequence using 1/2" landscape tubing. It took a little searching to find the correct hose fittings, but once installed, they do not leak at all. I am so glad to have found a humane and simple solution to our deer problems. They even provide a bit of entertainment when our cat inadvertently wanders within sensor range. I highly recommend this product!

Lost it's mind after two weeks.
I used to scoff at the review where people would say, "Stopped working after two weeks," but not any more. Bought this to chase the birds off the newly planted lawn. First off, it says it will detect birds, but unless you have condors landing on your grass, this thing won't scare anything. Pigeons might set it off, if you're lucky. Even large flocks of them. Came out one day to find a carpet of pigeons gorging themselves on my seed right in front of this sprinkler and didn't go off until I chased them off. Then suddenly it was like, "Hey dude, I had this. I was just waiting for the right moment." After two weeks of use, it stopped working. Wouldn't run when it was supposed to. Then, it started running without any movement. Over and Over 5 seconds at a time. Then, it started running for more than 5 seconds at a time. The final straw was when I came home one day to find it had been running non stop for hours. Flooded my backyard hardcore and drowned the newly planted rye and ballooned my water bill. Complete garbage. Thankfully, I'm within the 30 return period, so I will be taking advantage of that and get my $40 back.

Bad Cats
It works very well. My cats are definitely staying out of the area I put it in. Very pleased ๐.

What can I say... it worked.
I used to own two dogs... past tense, as both have moved on to the Rainbow Bridge within the last year. Imagine my surprise when I found more piles of poop in the back yard after their passing! So I bought this motion-activated sprayer to combat the mystery critter. It took a couple weeks--the critter got smart and moved to a different location--but in the end (knock on wood) the sprayer triumphed over the critter. It has been three weeks now since I've seen any poop, and I haven't had the sprayer set up for the last two of those. You can't tell from the photos, but the solar panel position is adjustable (horizontally). That was a pleasant surprise, as the peak sunlight was to the southwest of the unit where I had it set up. On the bad side, the instructions included with the sprayer are minimal, and not 100% complete (and tiny!); but I managed to figure things out, so at least the set-up & operation are intuitive. They also kind of messed up the hose connection. If you look closely at the photos, the connection at the base of the main unit (where the extension goes into it) is done correctly; i.e. there's a female coupler that screws onto the male threads of the extension. But if you look at where the hose connects, there is no such coupler. In order to screw the hose into the stake you have to twist the entire unit around the hose connector. So every time you need to use the hose for something other than the sprayer, you have to pull the sprayer out of the ground to unscrew the hose. You'll also notice on the opposite side of the hose connection there is another covered connector. There is no indication what this is used for (again, due to minimal instructions), but I assume this is so you can string multiple units together; i.e. it is an output port that you can screw a leader hose into and connect the other end to the input of a second unit. Just a guess... and a nice feature if I'm correct, though I'd prefer to have the output at the side of the unit rather than the front. This next criticism isn't really the unit's fault, but it will be best if you connect a solid hose from the water source to the unit. Don't use a flex hose if you can help it. The flex hose expands and builds up pressure, but when the motion-activated sensor goes off and the valve opens, the pressure in the flex hose drops and the sprinkler head doesn't arc like it should and ends up spraying in one direction. It doesn't make sense, but I've seen it with my own eyes. Lastly, be careful how you set the sensitivity and where you point the sensor. On a windy day, the trees blowing in the wind will set off the sprayer repeatedly. On a rainy day, the raindrops falling down will set it off. The motion sensor is triggered by more than just animal movement. And for God's sake, make sure your wife knows you put up a motion-activated sprayer before she decides to do any gardening in the back yard! ;-) The sprayer doesn't differentiate between friends and foes. By the way, another reason not to use a flex hose is because even if you turn off the water at the hose bib, there's still pressure built up in the flex hose and it'll continue to spray a few more times if the sensor goes off. Overall, though, I'm happy with the purchase. I wasn't sure this thing would work, but I can't argue with the results. There are some inconveniences, for sure (hence the 4-star rating), but there isn't anything that can't be lived with. Overall a nice solid unit.

It's a gamble, do you feel lucky?
I have bought about 7 (and about 5 of other brands) of these over the last 3 years. They mostly all worked fine for the first year (had to reboot several of them at times, which involves removing the batteries, they would get stuck on "ON") The second year several of them just cease to function and had to replace. I have tried a number of other brands, basically same story. I suspect the guts of these repellers come from the same source as breaking them down reveals exactly the same "guts", therefore I include all of them in this review. So the only way to beat the odds is to have several available at once. Some have now lasted 3 years, but most of those originals have died. I would gladly pay twice the price for more reliability.

Perfect (Leak Issue Solved)
Free-range cats come into my yard and terrorize my indoor rescue kitties through the glass door and try to kill humming birds that I feed. This is just what I have been looking for, super easy to get set up. Solved issues some others have reported in the reviews: Leaking stopped when I unscrewed and reconnected the plastic connection that the metal spike goes into. I tightened it really well with the top piece close to the main unit, and then when screwing in the metal hose connection/ spike I tightened it carefully but completely (so not to crack the plastic). To get the spray to aim lower I angled the unit so the spray faces downward to get at cat level. It seems to be perfect to deter outdoor cats which is what I was hoping for. Will update if needed after some use.

Don't buy this item!!!!!!
This item is a grave disappointment!! Absolutely not worth the money. It freezes in one place and runs constantly. We have complained to the manufacturer and they told us to clean the solar screen, change the batteries and move the batteries when it sticks in one spot and runs constantly. We have done that over and over and over again. We put in new batteries twice, cleaned the screen multiple times, etc. It just runs for a minute and then locks in one spot and will run all day if you don't just shut the water off. It is motion activated as advertised, they just forgot to let you know that once it is activated it doesn't shut off and sticks in one position. So if you don't mind standing by and cleaning the solar screen each time it is activated and move the batteries around for the next activation, then buy this thing. We have a few more things to do than to stand in the garden and make sure it shuts off and doesn't run all day in one spot. We bought it to keep the deer off our plants when they walk through the garden and activate it. A very sad purchase.

Solar-Powered Motion-Activated Water Blaster
Have a lot of neighbors Cats peeing in my backyard. Got one of these, works great. Wish the water Jet is pointed straight rather than fountain type. This product works fine for me, I think the cats get scared when the jet starts to blast water.

Broken
Worked great for about a month, then it stopped working. I found the problem, the solar panel does not work. I reached out to the vendor and told them the solar panel does not work so I have to use regular rechargeable batteries. The vendor replied to me and said that they cannot accept a return because the item condition has been modified. The item was not modified. I changed the batteries. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!

The conept is great but the product is not durable
I have been using this for 4 weeks and it is effective in scaring the ducks away. However, the build material is not durable. On the 5th week the pipe section of the unit suddenly burst. Possibly due to this product not suited to hot weather in Australia where it was almost 30 degrees when the pipe burst. See photo how it broke on the bottom part of the pipe.
