Had to buy a 1/4-20 tap to re-thread the mounting hole.
Materials are good, locking clamps are sturdy, finish is above average.But...the 1/4-20 mounting hole was not threaded correctly. None of my tripod head screws would thread into it. At first I thought it was just that some black paint got into the hole and it could be cleaned out. Unfortunately, that didn't help. I even tried screwing a standard 1/4-20 bolt into it. No luck. I finally just bought a cheap 1/4-20 tap and re-threaded it. That did the trick, but I'm a little miffed that I had to spend additional money to correct a problem. I could have returned it for a replacement, I guess. I just figured that the chances might be good that I would have the same problem with the next one. The hole did have threads, it's just that they wouldn't accept any of my mounting screws.

Lightweight solution for balance & tilt on monopod
I have a long zoom without a tripod collar that I intend to use with a mirrorless camera on a monopod. Have a ball head, but found it fiddly and unstable, especially with the lens weight all well forward of the screw mount. This is compact, sturdy, light, and inexpensive. It enables stable, adjustable tilt, while keeping the camera + lens center of mass over the monopod. Not as versatile as a gimbal, fluid, or ball head, but far lighter and less bulky. Small is beautiful.

Meets my needs
I use this on a monopod to limit camera movement to tilt only. Keeps the camera steady and not flopping sideways as happens with a ballhead. In use, it loosens and has to be re-tightened after each tilt; this could be improved.Overall works well.

Used / Damaged for New
I bought a new item and got a used one, otherwise it’s a good tilt head and it appears it will hold !
