Digitally remastered edition of this 1981 album from the Southern Rock band. Quinella was the band's only album for the Columbia label and features the Top 30 hit 'Alien'. They went into the studio to record a second album for Columbia, but because of differences between the record company and the group it was never released. Beat Goes On.

Another fine release from BGO!
Atlanta Rhythm Section is my favorite Southern Rock band and I was thrilled to get this one on the BGO label, a company renowned for great fidelity on their CD releases.

that classic ARS sound!
I was a huge fan of the Atlanta Rhythm Section back in the 1970s, and remain so today, but like many people of my age I was smitten by the "new wave" bug in the late '70s and early '80s, and I'm ashamed to admit that I never heard this album, released in 1981, until recently. What can you say? Better late than never, right?Any thoughts that this "later" recording by ARS would be weak or not up to par were quickly snuffed after the first few listens. This one has all the trademarks of that classic ARS sound, mixing keen pop songs and ballads with gritty rockers. And of course there is the golden voice of Ronnie Hammond, one of the greatest and most underrated vocalists of this era.About the only track I don't care for is "Pretty Girl" and not because it's a bad song, but the arrangement and backing vocals remind me of the Michael McDonald-era Doobie Brothers, a sound I never cared for. Just a bit too slick. But honestly, it's not an awful song, and the strength of the rest of this album more than makes up for that disappointing track. I particularly like "Outlaw Music", the title track, and "Southern Exposure".The CD also comes with a 12-page booklet containing informative liner notes and a history of the band. This CD is well worth getting for fans of this great band.

Delighted with purchase
I was given an un-detailed cassette copy of this years ago by my late brother and bought the CD when I was able, finally, to identify the Band and the Album. So I'm very pleased to have a more permanent copy of this great collection and the memories it invokes. In comparison to their earlier releases it is more varied, more interesting, more entertaining and likely to stand the test of time. It opens well, continues very well and closes satisfactorily leaving one wanting more. Excellent!

"You're So Strong".......
Just ordered this today from a seller and I await it's arrival.I have been a fan of ARS for many decades. I have all of the BGOremasters except the live CD. Just can't get enough of this band.Though I trust the label for their past mastering performance, Iwill return with an UPDATE...March 6th 2013...It's another great"work of art" from the BGO label. The back cover is graphic heaven! The remaster is stellar....It's on now as I hit the keys. Title cut"Quinella" sounds crystal clear and of course "Alien" is a gem worththe price of admission. It's all good on this one....
