Enjoyed it
This m/m romance is the first in a series, although the main character has appeared in another series written by the author too (which I haven't read so you can read this easily without having read those)Tyler is a detective in Chicago investigating a series of murders when he meets Ian, a man who has just found his friend to be the latest victim.Tyler tries to keep this witness safe when the serial killer seems to have set his sights on Ian, and finds something about himself that he didn't expect.Part thriller/mystery, part romance and sexual awakening this is a new author to me and I enjoyed it.It contains sexual scenes and a romance between two men so if that's not your thing then this might not be for you, but if you do like this genre of story then I'd recommend it.The book is told in alternating viewpoints of both Tyler and Ian, and I feel like you got to know both and I liked the connection they had with one another.

Five stars!
I've wanted to know more about Tyler Jamison since he first appeared in Vulnerable (McIntyre Security Inc. series) as Beth's somewhat uptight older brother. It was clear that he was hiding some inner pain or turmoil, and that was the reason he appeared to be married to his job as a homicide detective. One night stands with women weren't fulfilling to him and he was surpressing his real needs. Meeting Ian Alexander during an investigation, he finally gives in to the fact that he's gay and starts a relationship with him. The scene where Tyler comes out to his family and friends was emotional and beautifully written , and the relief that Tyler feels being able to be himself around those closet to him was palpable.Ian has his own demons and despite his apparent outgoing nature, has deep set insecurities. Together, Ian and Tyler help each other to overcome their respective issues. This a beautifully written m/m romance, and like April Wilson's other books, will have you falling in love with the characters and leave you wanting more.

All the feels
All the feels reading….Living with denial is hard, but suddenly finding out the truth about your sexuality and learning to accept and embrace it, is torture!! And Tyler is just about to find this out!Tyler – Hard cop, if you’ve read the previous McIntyre books you will know Tyler well. He’s a no nonsense guy, dark and mysterious. His story is one of self-discovery and acceptance. We’ve been waiting a long time for Tyler’s story, but this was so worth the wait.April you have done him proud, this is an amazing read, so much angst, turmoil, heartache, so much love and all the feels.I love Ian, he is the polar opposite to Tyler. Brining Ian into Tyler’s life really throws him a curve ball.Even with the ups and downs and all the angst, I loved this book.April is just fecking awesome.

Absolutely superb addition to this fantastic series
Wow, just WOW. I have loved all the characters in this series with a real soft spot for Cooper and Sam and their journey to acceptance. I think that Tyler and Ian's story has even topped those 2 (no pun intended). This is a story of heartache, angst, loneliness and sadness which grows and grows in strength and love. You cannot help but feel Tyler's pain then joy as he comes to accept what he needs and who he is. Ian is the perfect man for him, vulnerable and someone who needs his strength and protection. I am so glad they found their happy ending. Well done April, you have knocked them all out of the park with this one. Cannot wait to see their story continue and them beat all the challenges which may come their way.

I see where the low stars are coming from
Im not a detective but should Tyler be discussing the case with Ian in a restroom 😳 him suspecting Roy.

Another intense but solid read
April has a tendency to write intense storylines that start of slow but as the storyline progresses, she has you so enthralled and sitting on the edge of your seat right till the end. For her only 2\3 MM romance novel, April has kicked this one out of the park again, but left you wanting more.Tyler has been asking for his own story to be told for a long time, and has found a very fitting partner in Ian. Looking forward to more adventures from these two.

Brilliant!!
I was very excited about getting this book and it didn't disappoint. It was nice to know Tyler better and I am a bit in love with Ian. A murder mystery which kept me on my toes. It resolved quickly so there was time for the relationship to grow. I wish there was a chapter where Tyler got to meet the parents, it would have been nice to see how Ian's dad reacted to the relationship with everyone around. I loved the ending, so romantic.
