Yes, a swinging door that latches once you are inside.

Maybe 200 lbs. I'm not sure of the precise weight but it is light yet very sturdy. We love it!

Q: How do you attach it to the forks so that it does not slide off if they are inclined down.

It has safety pins that slide and latch behind forks to secure it so it will not slide off forks. We love ours and use it a bunch!

Q: How do you get into the platform once it is lifted up high a ladder perhaps?

You get in it BEFORE it is lifted! It takes two people.
