POPAR READ IT. SEE IT. BE IT. Safari 4D Interactive Smart Book and App

An spectacular gift was the comment my 5 years old nephew that told me when saw the dinosaurs through the cell phone application. The code worked without problem. A very nice interactive book, also had several individual cards as a gift at the end!.

IN the past, I've worked with virtual reality as a part of my job. I was expecting more than this book delivers. I guess that's my bad in not reading, in full, how the book works. It does bring the book to "life" and is another way for kids to integrate books/tablets

We ordered this for our Little Girl, who loves playing on her tablet. We read to her often, and we like showing her a variety of books about wild animals and dinosaurs. This was a must-get for her. She was so thrilled to get it, because she had already seen the demo video of how it works. Then we ran into a snag.She uses an Amazon Fire. I tried to look up the Popar Safari app from all of the apps available. Couldn't find it. Okay, let me try to access the Google Play store on the tablet. Couldn't download the app there, either. Eventually we settled for downloading the app on my Wife's iPhone 11 Pro. Took some time, finally got it downloaded. Worked pretty well. But the catch being that she could only use my Wife's phone when she wanted to take advantage of the 4D options.Problem is, if you use an Amazon tablet, you're not going to get to use it with this book. And that's why I'm dropping the review one star. Popar is selling this book on Amazon. You'd think that with all of the people who buy from Amazon that own a Fire, they would be able to download the app. You can't. The app isn't available through Amazon, for who knows what reason. And you can't download apps from Google Play on your Fire. You can access Google Play from the web browser on your tablet, but it won't let you actually download ANYTHING from the Play store.What bugs me is that Popar knows that Fire owners can't download the app needed for this to work. Only they make absolutely no mention of this in the product description. The only reason I figured it out, was because another seller asked (after we had already ordered it) if it works with the Amazon tablet. And Popar explained that it wouldn't. So I wonder just how many Fire owners ended up buying this book, only to find out after it's paid for and delivered, that they can't use the 4D feature. A little slippery, you ask me. They should do more than just make a vague reference to "the app may not work on some devices" and flat out say in the description that it won't work with Fire tablets. Or just figure out a way to get the app on Amazon, so it can be downloaded. Makes very little sense to me. Cool book, but we pretty much won't be using the 4D option since we're not going to be handing off our own phones to our Daughter constantly.

This is a decent little paperback augmented reality (AR) book. It can be read without the AR portion but you'll miss a significant amount of education if you choose not to use that function. If you do decide to use the AR function, you'll need to download the popar app onto your smartphone. I've included a screenshot of the permissions that were required at the time I downloaded it. If you're okay with allowing those permissions then you can point at icons in various places throughout the book and you can watch on your phone screen as bugs appear to come out of the page where they can be studied in greater detail. There is some music that plays in the background as you click on various bug body parts to learn more. Sometimes there are links to videos though I wasn't all that impressed with some of them. A few just showed mini 5-second clips of bugs doing what they do. For example, ants carrying leaves or bees buzzing in their hive. One of the links I clicked on provided an error message which was mildly irritating but overall this is a great little paperback book that is packed with colorful pictures and fun facts. Little Mister is 3 years old and he has been intrigued by the fascinating pictures and 4d models. Giftable.

Every little kids seems to have a dinosaur phase and Popar’s interactive book is an interesting concept to mix traditional books and virtual reality (to augmented reality).The so-called 4D turned out to be the first hurdle. What appears to be called 4D app, is nowhere o be found in the App Store, but fortunately there is a QR code to find it quickly. Just that the code seems to have a monthly limit as the associated error code “Sorry, this QR code has exceeded its monthly scan limit” indicates. The app is actually called “POPAR Dinosaur”. Btw., there is a serial number to activate the app, but I was unable to find where that’s needed or even can be entered. The app appears to be fully functional without.As for the book, it’s quite attractive and informative even without the app. Adding the virtual reality Part, however, does indeed excite our 7-year old and the 10-year old alike. That doesn’t mean the AR is really useful as there isn’t much extra info available, but the interaction does add fun at least at first.The digital content is rendered in decent quality and quite appropriate for kids and that’s the application anyway. Videos are a bit higher in quality and overall it’s pretty decent.

The media could not be loaded.  Great book for any dinosaur fan!It’s a smart book! What in the world does that mean? Well, it means it has interactive videos of the subject matter that seem to appear in the air when you use the included app. After installing the app, point your device at a page in the book and animations will appear in thin air! (They are actually on your phone or tablet)This Dinosaur Smart book is a paperback book similar to the size of a magazine. It includes 4D animations with educational facts and read-a-longs. It includes games, videos and fun facts.Very informative facts and amazing layout and design. We watched/read the book together as a family of three boys (ages 4, 6, 8). All three kids enjoyed the book. Our oldest LOVED the facts!The app was easy to find in the App Store,and installed quickly. It works great when pointing the device to a certain area of each page.Great interactive book that makes learning fun!
