Brilliant device
I had struggled to find a reliable 2.5gbe ethernet solution for my laptop. I tried several USB C devices that would work great for a few hours and then drop the speed to a crawl (less than 500mb). This USB 3.0 device gives me a reliable 2.5gbe connection and has been working fine for several weeks now. Very pleased with my purchase. Will be getting another for my Snology NAS.

Works with LG OLED65C9PUA TV
I bought this after finding out that my TV’s network interface only supported up to 100 Mbps download speed. With this adapter plugged into the TV’s USB 2 port, I was able to get just over 300 Mbps down and 175 Mbps up (measured by the Internet Speed 2 app from the LG App Store). I didn’t have to install any drivers. Note, the TV doesn’t show there is any Wired or Wireless network connection but everything works fine.

Adapter Allowed LAN Connection to Laptop
This adapter is used to allow a LAN connection to my laptop which did not come with a LAN interface. The USB adapter was immediately recognized by Windows 10 and did not need additional drivers. It is providing speeds of 360 Mbps, which is the maximum allowed by the plan that I have with my internet provided.

Seems to work.
Summary: As best as I can tell, this USB Ethernet adapter works fine. I would recommend using the latest driver from Realtek's website. My original review and subsequent update are below. So, I plugged this 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet adapter in and verified that it had negotiated 2.5 GbE uplink with my 10 GbE TrendNet switch. Then initiated a 8 GB file transfer of a single zip file over the network. The result? 35-45 MB/s.....what? For the record, that's way worse than Gigabit Ethernet which can do about 110 MB/s.As first I thought that maybe the USB 3.0 port on my test computer was broken. So I tried with another computer. Same result. Didn't matter what 3.x USB port and didn't matter if I was connecting to my 10 GbE Trendnet switch or my 1 GbE Cisco switch. My network file server is connected via a 10 GbE uplink and is running solid state storage. It will happily transfer large files at 112-113 MB/s over Gigabit Ethernet and 1 GB/s over 10 GbE. So clearly it isn't the bottleneck.I will ask Amazon to send me a new one, hopefully it works better.Update:So the replacement adapter arrived and I had some time to do some more testing last night. Started fresh and had Windows delete all existing drivers and then installed the latest ones from Realtek's website. The 40-45 MB/s speed problem went away and instead I started getting 8-12 MB/s when trying to download a file from my file server. Had a WTF!!! moment and plugged in the original adapter in and it behaved the same. 8-12 MB/s download.Next, I tried uploading a file to the file server and it blazed away at a solid 270-280 MB/s. Tried downloading from the file server...and 8-12 MB/s again. Same behavior in both adapters. The topology looks like thisTest Computer <--2.5 GbE link--> Trendnet TEG-7080ES switch <--10 GbE link--> FreeNAS File ServerSo evidently there is a setting, or flow control problem, or something else that is wrong. At any rate it's beyond me at the moment.I verified that the CableCreation 2.5GbE USB Adapters aren't at fault by configuring the Aquantia AQN-107 10GbE chip built into my motherboard to link at 2.5 Gbps and the same issue happened. Full speed upload and 20-22 MB/s download to/from the file server. Tried at 5 Gbps and the same thing too.Interestingly this issue does not happen at Gigabit Ethernet speeds. It's a solid 112 MB/s up and down all day long.PC <--1 GbE link--> TEG-7080ES switch <--10 GbE link--> File Server GoodPC <--2.5 GbE link--> TEG-7080ES switch <--10 GbE link--> File Server SlowestPC <--5.0 GbE link--> TEG-7080ES switch <--10 GbE link--> File Server SlowerPC <--10 GbE link--> TEG-7080ES switch <--10 GbE link--> File Server SPEEEDTLDR:Maybe I did have a driver issue before. However, I have been unable to re-create my original 45 MB/s problem. As best I can tell, the USB adapters actually work fine. More importantly, I discovered that my switch doesn't play nice with mixed multi-gigabit signals even though it's clearly advertised as NBASE-T compatible.

Easy Install
Installed on a 2012 Mac Mini running a recent fresh install of Catalina. Unplugged Ethernet from the Mac, plugged it into the adapter, and plugged the adapter into the Mac. Worked immediately without requiring a driver install (unless it was an instantaneous, transparent, automatic install). Maybe a recent update has added the required driver to the base system. I'll give it a try on my test Big Sur machine when I get a chance since that was my only reservation about the adapter (not big since the 2012 Mini won't run BS)Don't know about 2.5 performance yet as my 2.5 switch has not arrived yet.Update 10/18My switch arrived (QNAP QSW-1105-5T) and installed without any problems. I plugged the CableCreation adapter into it and got a green light on the switch (indicating a 2.5 connection was detected) but System Preferences/Network showed the connection as 1000baseT rather than 2500baseT. I did a shutdown/start but no change. I tried using manual settings but 2500BT didn't appear as Speed option. I tried "autoselect" but that didn't make a difference in benchmarking so I assume it didn't work either.I'd switched to the driver from the the RTL site when testing at 1000BT showed extremely poor write performance so I tried plugging it into my 2018 Mac mini (same version of Catalina) to use the bundled Catalina driver but got the same result. The item is return eligible through January so I'll give CableCreation a shot at fixing it.Update 2 (still 10/18)I downloaded and reinstalled the driver. After rebooting, it showed a 2500baseT connection which was confirmed with. much improved performance. Not as fast and consistent as either the on-board 10Gb adapter on the 2018 Mac Mini or the PCI-e card on my Windows 10 box but definitely better than 1000baseT. Maybe there is something in the driver install process under Catalina that I missed the first time or it's "second time's a charm".

USB network cable adapter
I've always wanted to buy one of these. I remember back in the day I had a problem and didn't have a Wi-Fi adapter and I think one of these would have come in handy. But I do have a computer that the Wi-Fi adapter doesn't work on it anymore so I plugged it into this thing. Now I can use that computer again. So even an external Wi-Fi adapter didn't work for some strange reason. But this one does. And the price is right on it too.

Was using old adapter, this one works nicely.
Before buying this, I used to rely on a Cable Matters brand-based adapter (since they were cheap). It has never worked properly on my laptop ever (using Linux Mint). I would use the internet for a while before it disconnects. When it does, I have to restart this every time or hold down the power button. I had to do this process again every time my internet disconnects say after a few hours. It was so frustrating that I thought it was just the issue of the OS I needed to troubleshoot separately. Now, I decided to try out this adapter and guess what? It worked excellent. No more disconnection and having to restart the laptop over losing progress. Must be something wrong with the Cable Matters one maybe poorly implemented drivers within. So far, I'm happy with this ethernet adapter so don't be afraid to try out different ones if you have disconnection and restart issues.
