Mysticism and the New Physics (Compass) Review: Above and beyond expectations - Whether you're adept in the field of physics, or metaphysics; or just someone wanting to gain more knowledge about either subject. This book is an excellent read. It is understandable for the beginner, and opens new doors to different ways of thinking about certain subjects. At the same time, if you already have much knowledge in the fields of metaphysics and physics it will not lull you to sleep. This book makes comparisons that will get you thinking and keep you reading more. Review: Easy to follow - This book is fun to read and gives a completely new perspective to many ideas that we accept as true. It is long enough to give good explanations and short enough not to be overwhelming. I read it after taking a short course in modern perspectives of reality, and along with the course it has helped me to view many things in a different light. Definitely worth checking out.

Interesting but the Holographic book is much better, in fact superb.
Mr. Talbot's other book, "The Holographic Universe" is a phenomenal work and is relatively easy to read, especially if one has a science and math background. This book "Mysticism and the New Physics" I find difficult to follow. Seems like just a bunch of random thoughts without much connection between them. I will read it again and take notes this time. Maybe I went too fast. Note that this work was published about 10 years earlier than the Holographic one. Perhaps it took some time for Mr. Talbot to integrate all these complex ideas in his mind. If you are seeking more details related to the content of the Holographic book, you will find some of that here, but I suggest take notes as you go along. bobzt Engineer

Every page is mind expanding
I love this book, and am very surprised its not a lot more popular. Talbot doesn't dance around the subject like more other authors and books do! He gets straight to the point with very informed and powerful concepts. I often find it burdensome to have to deal with an authors "filler" material, and if I can speak for myself, I want to get to the point, and then relate that point to different perspectives. Excellent book and probably one of the top 5 books I've read out of about 30 or so. If your at all interested in the topic, pick it up!

Deep and wonderfully complex - deceptively thin tome
Fabulous book! Best read in small literary "bites," in my opinion. This is good, deep stuff. It is said that anyone who claims to understand Quantum Physics obviously does NOT understand it. The principles are quite contrary to the standard Newtownian model. (Einstein referred to quantum particle behavior as "spooky action at a distance.") As a modern mystic ~and~ lover of science (had a first edition of _A Brief History of Time_ until my ex stole it), I found this book deeply satisfying.

An early book on the developments in Quantum Physics and Universal consciousness.
This is one of the earlier books (Mysticism and the new physics by Michael Talbot, published in 1981 and revised in 1993) about the developments in science, Quantum Physics and its relationship to consciousness and the universe. This 185 page paperback explores the scientists whose discoveries in science and physics has made many of the mystical ideas promoted by various philosophies such as Zen, Taoism, various energy healing methods and many other systems as being in tune with reality. This book is organized into three parts with nine chapters. The topics covered include the following: Part one: Consciousness and reality. Part two: The structure of space-time. Part three: Mysticism and the new physics. There is also an afterword to the 1992 edition: Revisited Mysticism and the new physics. This book still has a lot of interesting and informative information on some of the early developments which made way for scientific physics discoveries and how it relates to consciousness. Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi/Qigong/Yoga stretching for seniors and the physically challenged).
