Black Children: Their Roots, Culture, and Learning Styles

Untapped Uniqueness
This book shows clearly how black children are overlooked by our school systems when it comes to their ways of learning. They are forced to learn in an environment not created for their ways of learning differently. In a system of analytical learning black children are labeled "LD." This label is called learning disabled by a system that doesn't recognize the different styles of learning. What the analytical system calls learning disabled from their vantage point is really learning differently (LD). I recommend this book for anyone who is serious about beginning to understand the unique styles of learning our black children have, and how we can move to support our children in a system not suited for them to learn at their maximum potential. Is the implementation of something new called for? An excellent book.

A daddy's read
As a father of a very young female child, I found iT highly important to read this book after I heard it mentioned in a few speeches here and there. I thought to myself, self, my entire household and the future of my child's mental status can benefit greatly. The writer did an amazing job of articulating points I hold....I've attempted to describe issues raised in this book but I didn't have the careful placement of words....I GOT 'EM NOW!
