Great intro to Genetics
This book easily explained genetics to my 11 year old and 8 year old. I enjoyed it also. The illustrations were beautiful.

Beautiful illustrations, lovely and informative story.
This book has beautiful illustrations and is a wonderful story to teach children a little bit about the science of gardening in a simple, understandable, interesting way. It is a nice jumping off point for activities to do with youngsters outside in the garden. It's short enough to hold a child's attention and has a nice story story line. I like the size of the book because it's easy to show the illustrations to the child while reading it to them. Precocious readers 5 years old could read a bit on their own I would think and OK for ages on up.

Wonderful intro to genetics/Mendel
Great launching point for kiddos on this topic. I used it as part of a botany unit. The illustrations are lovely and clear. Beautifully written. Well done.

Great Book!
The story and visuals were just excellent. I read this book to all of my science classes and used the images to help all of my students (GenEd, SpEd, Gifted) understand genetics. The images brought the content to life and kept my students so engaged that several asked if we were going to do the experiment too!

Well written and enjoyable.
I ordered this book for my children to compliment what they were learning in science. I have a 2nd and 4th grader and read this aloud. It was wonderful. It’s very well written, informative, and enjoyable. The illustrations are beautiful. It did a great job in showing in a simple way how traits are passed on and giving the story of Gregor Mendel.

Appropriate for a High School Biology Class
I read this book to my high school students. They don't love the book, but they do love story time and it has just enough science that you can read it as the intro OR as a concluding activity when everyone's brains are fried over genetics.

Great with DNA Unit
I teach 5th grade and read this to my students when we were learning about genetics and the passing of genetic traits. They liked it and it was an easy read aloud. Good supplement to any genetics unit to give info on the Father of Genetics.
