Great Romantic Mystery!
4.5 StarsThis story was so interesting to me. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and I struggled to put this book down because of it. I loved the characters and the mystery had me guessing the entire time. This book also might just be a little too realistic in some ways which made it even creepier, but I still absolutely loved it.When a woman is found murdered at a poplar biking and hiking trail Bailey, an investigative reporter, is there ready to get answers from the lead detective, Jacob. But even if I wanted to give her answers, this case is never what it seems with nothing adding up. With a connection the two of them can't ignore and a case more complicated than they expected, teaming up might be their best option, especially if Jacob wants to keep Bailey safe. While the romance wasn't the main focus of this story, I absolutely adored the way Jacob and Bailey were with each other. I love that they both could recognize where getting involved might not have been the best choice, but also the way the were able to come together despite that. I love the way they were just kind of effortless together once they made that decision and I love the way they were able to communicate with each other in the end.I will definitely be continuing this series and finding more books like this one. I would recommend this one to anyone who enjoys the following.✔️ Age Gap (8 Years)✔️ Opposites Attract✔️ Grumpy Cop Hero✔️ Journalist Heroine✔️ Mystery/Suspense✔️ Third Person POV2🌶

I love this new series by Laura Griffin
Hidden is the first book in the new Texas Murder Files series by Laura Griffin. This book unites a tough police detective and a crime reporter who are both racing to solve a murder.Hidden begins with a woman jogging in a park and then getting stabbed to death. The problem is that the victim, Dana Smith, doesn't really exist. She has no friends, no family, and no traceable background. Her employer, a doctor who hired her as a nanny, doesn't know anything more about her than what the cops can find. Our hero, Jacob Merritt is a homicide detective. He and his partner, Kendra Porter, are assigned to find out what happened to Ms. Smith. The clues lead them to a dead end. Our heroine, Bailey Rhoads, is a crime reporter with the local newspaper who is desperately trying to find a story big enough that will keep her employed. When she discovers that Dana Porter didn’t really exist, she knows she is on to something big. Bailey finds out that the victim was actually in the Federal Witness Protection program which makes it nearly impossible to trace. Because of this information, the case is taken away from the police and turned over to the FBI. However, Bailey continues to hunt for any clues. Jacob won’t let this case go and searches for answers on his own.Hidden is fantastic book. It has romance, great characters, and a suspenseful murder investigation. This book also has some very edgy plot twists involving state of the art technology. I was fascinated with this aspect of the book. Jacob and Bailey are so likeable. I loved how Ms. Griffin was able to make the tough detective and the persistent news reporter find their romance while they each tried to solve this case without disclosing anything or stepping on each other. The supporting characters were fully fleshed out and I hope they each get their own story.Ms. Griffin is on my auto-buy list, and I eagerly look forward to each new book. I have read Ms. Griffin’s other series books and thoroughly enjoyed them all. She writes fantastic characters, unbelievable suspense and creates a world I can become immersed in. I highly recommend this new book and suggest if you haven’t read her other series, you should give them a try.

Laura Griffin is the best romantic mystery out there
I read the 1st one and proceed to buy and read the next 27 books in a row and have ordered the new book coming out in May. I have all the books I bought 3 times already. The characters are so real in every book. The books are reasonably priced also.

New Series
I have read a lot of this authors work and I have to say this one was good but not my favorite.Still worth reading. It just didn’t have that intensity that most of her other books did.Yes it was suspenseful with a little bit of romance.Bailey is a reporter bound and determined to get her story.Jacob is the police detective investigating a murder. With no evidence and no leads he’s having a hard time.

Suspense and romance
This is the first book in the series from Laura Griffin, called Hidden: The Texas Murders Files. The story begins with a journalist, Bailey Roads, she meets a detective, Jacob Merritt. Everything starts off with a woman jogging in the park who is stabbed to death. After doing some research it was found out that Dana Smith may not be her name. Which means that Dana Smith really doesn’t exist. She has no friends, no family, and her employer, is a doctor who hired her to be a nanny for her daughter. The doctor doesn’t know much more about her than the cops do.Bailey is very smart and good at her job as a crime scene reporter who is very resourceful and stubborn about getting the information for her story for the Austin Herald paper she works for. Bailley believes there is more to this story than what meets the eye.Jacob Merritt is a detective who is strong, and he is stubborn as Bailey in not letting go of the case as she was. Jacob wanted the person who was responsible for Dana’s death behind bars. But there is one problem is that Bailey is always one step ahead of him. What I can tell you about this story is really a page-turner that has just the right amount of romance and suspense and the pace will keep you up all night. So, if you are looking for a good storyteller then this book is for you.

Hidden - an excellent read
I like Bailey & Jacob. There's just enough romance for me. The story was excellent. A complicated tale with some red herrings, I could feel myself reading faster and faster even though on the one hand I didn't want to get to the end.I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys a little romance with their thrillers. An excellent read.

Decepcionante.
*Puedes encontrar esta reseña en español al final.*There have been too many things that have prevented this read from being, at least, entertaining. The plot has been boring and predictable. And as soon as things get interesting, the explanations or reasons given by the author are either vague and do not explain anything, or are simply non-existent. Or too far-fetched to be credible ...The MC's are a bunch of clichés. They hardly have an original or sincere feature. The conflicts are trite. The interactions are mediocre. Despite the author incessantly repeating how interested they were in each other, I have neither seen nor "felt" that attraction. And add to all the above a heroine with moments so stupid (to live) that they are impossible to believe (the author describes them as daring ...) and a hero who does not know what he wants in matters of love (or does he know? Maybe? Who knows? *roll eyes*) and you get a boring and difficult story to finish.A pity, because this author is really prolific and has very good reviews. I must have tried the wrong story.

A Good Read
The first book by this author that I have read and I did enjoy it. A well written storyline and believable/likeable characters. Less is more when it comes to sex scenes - which I prefer. Just finished the next book in this series and really enjoyed ii, so I will continue to try other books by this author.

Ok story but not nailbiting, not suspenseful and certainly not fast paced. At times I got a bit bored as it dragged. A long way from her best.
Such a shame as I am a fan and have most of her books and looked forward to this one
