Loro - Die Verführten [DVD] [2018]

It's a great Sorrentino but not a Berlusconi
Great shots but not much about facts. But maybe that's supposed to do the trick here, I find.

An astonishing and unacceptably overlooked masterpiece
Of course, we could not expect Hollywood to embrace a film like Loro and shower it with Oscars. Hollywood does not traffic in truth and profundity nowadays. There is too much money to be made by men with bulging muscles and the women who ape them. But if you are looking for truth and beauty - art, in fact - in unlikely places (the story of Silvio Berlusconi), try Loro. Sorrentino made one of the greatest films of this century a few years ago, The Great Beauty, and while Loro is not, could not, match it, this director's new film extracts the rawest emotion from the eternal predicament of being a man. Made by a lesser talent - some politically virtuous English director, for example - a bio about Berlusconi would no doubt have spent its time holding up his weaknesses and failings and declaring the film-maker a hero in doing so, but Sorrentino is made of greater stuff, and he not only helps us to understand Berlusconi (or a verson of him, at least), he - and I never thought I'd say this - actually makes us like him, maybe even love him. Because, Sorrentino seems to say, that was Berlusconi's greatest skill - to make people love him. And the question that this great artist asks throughout this marvellous film is this: Who are you, really? It is a question that, watching Loro, we are continually prompted to ask ourselves.

Great movie, ruined by historical inaccuracies
The movie in itself is great, pity for the many biased historical inaccuracies, although I understand that unless you conform to the mainstream view you will never get a movie produced anyway...

Good direction but Pointless
It has good imagery but that's about it. Very poor scenario leading nowhere, I suggest you rather watch a documentary about the actual events, if so interested in berlusconi's lifestyle.Waste of time
