This book had good ideas for bulletin boards and will use some of them but not all.

Simple but effective bulletin boards to create in your classroom.

I used this book for bulletin board ideas. Now my bulletin boards are being used as instructional aids.

Unsatisfactory

The Giant Book of Bulletin Boards contains over 159 different U.S. teacher created ideas and samples for bulletin boards. The samples, reproducibles, and illustrations are in black and white.The book contains a table of contents that lists the 16 sections.The book is divided into 16 sections: Introduction, board-making tips, back to school, fall, winter, spring, summer, behavior and incentive boards, student-work boards, reading, writing, math, science/health, social studies, art, and reproducible patterns.The book contains over 60 pages of reproducibles.Each bulletin board idea is well illustrated, and is described in vivid detail. The book has a materials list, reproducibles, coordinating border ideas, paper cut out suggestions, and an alternative title and subject idea tip.The book also provides the item number for coordinating materials that can be purchased though the publisher.However, with a little creativity and access to the internet or a word processing program you can duplicate or substitute similiar materials because they are also illustrated and described in detail.The book contains student made bulletin boards, interactive bulletin boards, door decorations, 3-D bulletin boards, literature based bulletin boards, and quick and easy bulletin boards.One of my favorites is the starting off on the right foot bulletin board which calls for you to use a teacher created or commercial poster of rules, and have each students sign their foot print and state, "I will follow the rules--student's name)".It was relatively inexpensive to create because I used a die cut from the teachers' work room to create oversized foot prints and shoe prints. You can also use a word processing program or the internet to find similiar items.I created the board using the primary colors orange, yellow, green, violet, and blue against a bright red background. It looked spectacular!Some of my other favorites include all about me, helping hands octopus, perfect pairs, people are like snowflakes each one is unique, sunsational work, happy homonyms, riding the rhyme time express, and water.

I purchase the Giant book of bulletin Boards for our bulletin board in the library, and we made our first one this week for story hour. The kids loved it. There is everything in the book to make your boards jazzy. Love It, and well worth the price.Take a challenge like I did and experiment with it for all kind of mixtures of the graphics. I purchased this book thinking that the beautiful paper collage on the cover was a sample of what would be inside, boy was I wrong! This book is basically a catalog for the company for you to purchase pre-cut bulletin board items from the company that wrote the books. All the boards are cookie-cutter and there is no real inspiration or ideas on how to make a creative bulletin board. I rarely return books but will be doing so today!
