The Best Yoga DVDs Out There
I'm 73. I started doing cardio exercise in a systematic way when Cooper wrote his books in the early 70s. After 45 years of cardio I realized I needed strength training and added lifting weights. After four or five years of lifting weights I realized I was getting stiff and added yoga. I checked out a number of different books and DVDs and settled on Dean Pohlman's Body by Yoga series. These DVDs really work. I now have three of Pohlman's DVDs and the format is basically the same. Pohlman leads you through a particular routine with a specific goal (restorative yoga for this DVD, energy for "Yoga Charge"). Each routine is well worked out, with the moves flowing one into another. Pohlman gives you enough detail that you learn more each time you re-watch the routine. He says "If you're doing this right you'll feel it in . . ." and as I've progressed I've been able to feel the difference. He gives you variations for each posture so you can modify it.I have some minor criticisms. I wish Pohlman would put his name on his DVDs to make it easier to follow him. His "Gentle Yoga Fix" exercises a different part of the body in five different morning routines but there's no written material telling you the emphasis for each day so I prepared a list myself. But overall this is the best yoga program I've found. It's an excellent supplement to cardio and strength straining. I'm using it every day and I'm feeling the difference.

Super supportive dvd
Not really a yoga fan but like and enjoy this DVD. I especially like that the workouts are only 20 minutes long and that the program can be followed Monday to Friday, so no boring repetitions. Also appreciate the explanations as to why each pose is important and how to recognize that I am making progress. Narrator is very easy to listen to.

Don't think twice buy this DVD
I am 50+ years old and was struggling with lower back pain. I am sure this is do to sitting at a desk for 8+ hours a day. I was not a fan of Yoga when I tried it in my thirties. I bought the DVD, two blocks and a strap. My husband and I do the DVD five days a week for the 20 minutes as outlined. We have been doing it for two months now. The pain is going away. My strength and flexibility have improved. Each day there is a set of exercises to chanllange you. I look forward to day 1 and 3 the most. Buy this DVD and do as outlined. You my not like it the first few times, but as you do it, you will look forward to how it will make you feel.

The BEST Beginner Program by Man Flow Yoga
I have tried quite a few of the Man Flow Yoga programs and they have been pretty difficult, but not impossible. The beginner programs have even been a little more difficult than I anticipated. I understand that this yoga is different from the traditional yoga that most are used to, but that's my feedback to programs prior. This program, on the other hand, has been everything I hoped it would be. It addressed the problems we create by sitting all day at work for those of us who work at a desk. My favorite thing about these workouts is the technique coaching that Dean gives. He really does a great job at teaching the alignment of poses and has you use a block to ensure alignment. My second favorite thing is the unconventional exercises that Dean has you do that many yoga programs don't incorporate. One was being in Child's Pose but lifting one arm up at a time and holding it there to really strengthen the shoulders and back. The rest you'll have to find out by doing the program. One thing to note is that these workouts focus heavily on strengthening your hips and core. I had never done hip-specific exercises the way I have with this program. Not that this is a bad thing, but I enjoy doing beneficial exercises for my hips that I probably wouldn't have done prior to this. Though this workout is marketed to beginners, Dean does show how to make some postures more difficult for those with more experience. My only complaint with the program is doing five workouts per week. This is not because I can't make time for them, because the 20 minutes is PERFECT, but simply because of my soreness between days. I feel like, for me, I carry the previous day's soreness into the next workout, and I feel like it would be better to take a day in between or do a 2 on 1 off kind of schedule. Others may not have this problem, and I'm sure as I get used to it it'll subside. All in all, this program is the best beginner's workout ManFlowYoga offers, and I highly recommend it to newcomers.- Josh

Just the right level , not just for older people.
I am really loving this DVD. I have done 4 of the 5 workouts so far. Despite the title of 'gentle' I've found them kind of challenging. I am early 50s, and a good bit overweight, but had been doing strength training and martial arts regularly pre-pandemic. Then I did a couple months of yoga on you tube for beginners. Fell off the horse a few weeks and got this to get back on. It's very different than most of what is out there. He's obviously more focused on the strength parts, and there are well known yoga poses mixed in with things like leg holds that I would not expect, but are really what I need. I've found myself shaking in some spots trying to hold the pose, but most of it for me is in the sweet spot where I can do this...but I have to work at it and get a sweat on. Like holding a plank. So far I've been able to pretty much do all of it except my poor dolphin kinda died, that was a fail, but that's ok. So if you avoided this one because it said 'gentle' and 'older' don't...it is beginner friendly (though don't feel bad if you struggle with some of it) but it is not granny chair yoga. (He does have a chair yoga vid but I haven't tried it). Also, if there was music I didn't notice it. It's all very straight and to the point, with instruction and modification, but no off topic chatter (much as I appreciated the Adrienne of you tube fame..she drives me nuts that way). I also don't think I'll get board. 5 programs, 20 minutes each, which is just short enough to convince me to do it in the morning but long enough to matter.
