The Hynek UFO Report: The Authoritative Account of the Project Blue Book Cover-Up (MUFON)

A Classic Must Read: The Hynek UFO Report
Dr. Hynek's insights about the strengths and weakness of the original Air Force Project Blue Book are invaluable. As a consultant to them on the subject of astronomical potential causes and explanations he knew first hand many of the things later researchers have only been able to ascertain by evaluating the released documents and other sources. His questions are still valid today and many are still as unanswered as they were in when he wrote this groundbreaking work. No collection on the subject of unidentifieds on the ground or in the skies could be complete without this work. As his children point out in the forward to this new addition, Dr. Hynek was a man of science and he did not "believe in UFO's" , he traveled from skepticism to a place where he "accepted the validity of a growing amount of compelling UFO reports" (page viii). His commitment to science would allow him to do no less.In this work, Hynek examines attitudes and some cases he believed deserved better and more scientifically honest investigations, and in less detail, offers restrained but frank comments about the opportunities that could have advanced science but were, instead, used for more political agendas (The Robertson Panel and the Condon Report). The Hynek UFO Report, The Authoritative Account of the Project Blue Book Cover-Up (2020) is a timely return of a monumental voice and sterling reference to the renewed discussion of the topic of Unidentified Flying Objects (or more recent term Unidentified Aerial Phenomena).

A Scientist's View of the UFO Issue
Unlike some books on this subject, this is neither an ideological debunking of the thousands of sightings, not is it an argument that Earth has been invaded by little green men. Dr. Hynek merely reviews a few dozen cases from the Project Blue Book files and takes issue with the Air Force's refusal to do a proper investigation.Dr. Hynek offers no hypothesis re: what UFOs are. He merely says there is a real phenomenon that is not yet explained and it should be investigated fairly & scientifically.

Kindle version is not high quality
I wanted to read Dr. Hynek's book but didn't want to spend hundreds of $$$ for a rare hard copy. So, I got the Kindle version for a few dollars. The content is great, but the digital version must have been scanned and run through a text-recognition program. It's not the best. There are many misspellings, and the flow of the work is cut by numerous footnots that aren't clearly marked as such, making reading difficult when the topic changes dramatically between what appear to be paragraphs. You can figure it out, but it's often not easy. Let the buyer beware re: the Kindle version, but kudos to the late Dr. Hynek for writing this fascinating book.

Wow, just wow
There is so much credible evidence in this book and from such a wonderful scientist,. I found it so exciting that a scientist actually believes these incidents are possible. How refreshing to have someone to believe UFO'S are possible. Very interesting read. A must for anyone who believes they have seen one.

The definitive UFO book for serious researchers.
I've been reading UFO books and watching film footage for 50 years. Hynek is the only scientist and astronomer who really examined the reality of UFOs. Book in fine condition and a great read. Hynek started out as the USAF 'official debunker' but his in-depth interviews and research changed his mind. If you only read one book on the subject, this covers it.

10/10 - One of the greats!
One of the greatest books on the UFO subject that I have ever laid my eyes on.I could not recommend this book as much as it respectfully deserves!Even though this being the case, I still must concur and recommend this book to anyone genuinely interested in the UFO subject. This would be a very good starting point for beginners and also a fantastic book for the well read on the subject.I will read this book many more times to come.

Citizen's jury.
How many black swans do you need to see before honesty forces you to concede that black swans exist? One. Just one.Hyneck blows the lid off the project Blue Book cover-up by the airforce and the doubling down of their efforts with the Condon report. The jury has spoken. The airforce is guilty as charged.

The grandfather of UFO research, sums it up.
Alan J. Hynek was recruited by the government as a skeptical scientist with excellent credentials in the scientific community, to debunk all the reports that were being compiled for Project Blue Book.Dr. Hynek began as a skeptic, and did debunk many reports while working for the government. But while he was doing the research, something happened....He became a believer! As the evidence piled up, he began to see patterns forming, and like any good scientist, he became swayed by the evidence. So much so, that he started his own UFO research organization and studied the phenomenon for the rest of his life. This book is a must for the ufologist that wishes to have the important figures of ufology in their library. It is more dry and scientific than other books, I put it in the same category as the NICAP reports.

Project Blue Book: A missed opportunity.
Still reading this book which is a follow up to The UFO Experience by the same author. It goes into detail about Project Blue Book and it’s many failings to adequately collate the true UFO phenomenon. The late Dr J.Allen Hynek was a Scientific Consultant on Project Blue Book for 20 years. He speaks with authority and as an impartial scientist on the UFO phenomenon which he regards as a very real phenomenon, worthy of scientific study at the highest level.A very thought provoking book from one of the leading figures in UFO Research.

Highly recommended for everybody
Dr J. Allen Hynek, one of the leading consultants to USAF infamous "UFO reports", reviews some of the most controversial and intriguing cases from Project Blue Book and the so called Condon Report.Dr Hynek does not set out to prove that aliens exist and are here or that all UFO witnesses are liars but to expose the unscientific way reports were analyzed, even by well qualified experts, and the confusing and often depressing nature of "official" UFO investigation, caught between personal feuds, lack of funding, low priority and the will to put the matter to rest as quickly as possible. This is not a book engaging in wild speculations or trying to give all the answers right now: it will give you just the dry facts. And that's why it's highly recommended.

Not Great
A must have part of any UFO fans library. However, most of the tales are set in the 50s and 60s therefore it's all a bit too far in the past to be relevant. Hynek's obsession with stats is all a bit boring and ultimately the books fails. He would have been better concentrating on the major events.

Buono
Ottimo libro, anche se un po' pesante con tutte quelle trascrizioni. Come l'esperienza ufo, del resto, è in grado di trasmettere una visione complessiva del PBB
