Well
I have always been concerned about giving my dogs nylon bones or its variety... like nylabone, benebone... because I just couldn’t accept the fact that dogs would ingest tiny bits of plastic at a time. Plus my dog did not seem to like the last benebone toy we tried because it was too hard to chew with her small baby teeth.Well this product seemed different, as it claims to have been made of (partly) wood. So maybe, I thought, it was more chew-friendly, and that chunks would not fall out to present a choking hazards. Well I was partly correct. The toy was hard, but not hard like nylabone hard. It did not have a “give” but my puppy didn’t have any trouble sinking her teeth in it. The bone also did not splinter or create sharp enough edges to draw blood inside my pooch’s mouth. But my, it got obliterated so fast. My 4lb toy poodle is a semi active chewer and played with this for one hour everyday in the past two weeks (supervised of course). The entire structure of the toy is not compromised, but you can see how jagged it became.Dog clearly likes how the bone smells like some kind of edible thing, as she would play with it even when I didn’t even smear peanut butter in the holes. But the question then was when do I throw this away...Benebone, the manufacturer’s competitor, has a nice website showing when to discard a chew toy like this. Picture attached. So I guess our toy has a bit of life left in it..I think I bought this for like $3. So $3 for three weeks of play, not so bad as long as there’s no health hazards.I would not recommend this to a dog bigger than 10lb.

My dogs loved it, but it didn't last very long
My and my roommate's dogs (Lab and Golden) absolutely loved this. I actually didn't realize what the holes were for, so I never flavored it, but my dogs didn't care. They stole it from each other and when it was out, it was the only toy each dog wanted. So I ordered another. However, it barely lasted around a week or so. They were able to chew the ends until the toy was gone. It wasn't very expensive, so I was okay with that, but it's not something I would buy again. And it dissuades me from looking into the other barkbones with the holes because it makes me doubt the sturdiness of similar bones, especially now knowing that the inside is hollow.

He loves it and it lasts!
I wasn't sure this bone would be any different from some of the other brands I've bought for my gentle dog, but who is a very aggressive chewer. Usually "fake" bones do not interest him or he destroys them within minutes. Not the case with this bone! It has outlasted (been about 3 weeks now since he got it) all others and he runs for it every time we come back home from a walk. A great product with no worries about splintering---best $$ spent on a bone!

not what i thought
these fall into pieces and not only get all over your house when the dog chews but can get stuck in your dogs throat. when our pittie started to chew we noticed him trying to clear his throat. When we looked down closer there were little pieces everywhere on the floor. we swept the back of his throat and cleared what was not coming back out. wont buy again

Definitely Not for Aggressive Chewers
I don’t normally write such negative reviews, but I want to save someone else money if they have an aggressive chewer. The photos show what happened to the Bark Bone within 5 minutes of giving it to my Aussie. I had to take it away from him then as his gums were starting to bleed and the bone was crumbling. I did give it 2 stars because he definitely liked it. It’s back to the standard Nylabone for my pup.

It's should be more durable.
Great product. My dog loved it straight from the box. I have a seven month Collie. I didn't even need to put any peanut butter on it. However, I wished it was more durable. Not even 10 minutes and the ends are starting to fall apart. Bits of the plastic is . Guess I should not have gotten the "moderate" chewer bone and now discovering that my dog is an "aggressive" chewer. I will try my luck on on another product. If your dog is not an aggressive chewer this will probably work for your dog.

Not for a chewer
I got this and spread a bit of peanut butter on it and gave it to my dog (a border collie / lab mix) and it took about 5 minutes for him to lick the peanut butter off and absolutely destrow the ends of this. There was plastic bits everywhere. While the dog looked happy, this could have been very dangerous. I immediately threw this away.Steer clear of this one.

Wood flavored, very dangerous for your pets!
Bark Bone (Wood) warning...This was the worst bone I ever purchased. I have purchased other flavors of Bark Bone product and absolutely love them however, this was the worst one and very dangerous for my fur babygirl. She threw up with chunks of the bone she ate. This is very dangerous and sharp pieces in her body. DO NOT BUY THE WOOD BONE ,PROTECT YOUR DOG!!!

A marvellous thing
Our Whippet loves these synthetic bones. She gets hours of chewing out of them.

My dog loves this!
My dog loves this! It quickly became her new favourite chew toy. She had the two ends well chewed up within a few days! She's an aggressive chewer but is young and has a short attention span so I'm happy to find something she enjoys so much. You can change up the flavour by filling the holes with anything spreadable like peanut butter, banana or soft cheese just to name a few ideas. Will purchase again.

Wonderful
My dog is not a chewer & chew toys he doesn't like. The only thing he will play with & then eat is a bone. He LOVES this, I even bought 2 different sizes. He does not let them out of his sight. (Even without any food on it)

Loved it! :)
Although it was a bit expensive, my girl loves it! I can put peanut butter in the holes and freeze it; great snack for her. She is a heavy chewer, but the bone is still in one piece so I think it’s a success!
