It had to be set up to play and sound good but I I imagine most banjos do. The bracket square nut for the armrest was defective but Washburn sent me a replacement right away.

You get what you pay for. This is a great learning instrument for someone who isn't sure how much they want to invest. Sound quality is a little tinny, and it doesn't hold its tuning well, but for a beginner it's perfect.

Bought it to see if I want a good one.It's cheap enough and if I get it set up to play properly ( intonation, action, etc.)It may be a fun little thing to have.The neck is a thick "c" style and that's kinda weird for me but it does have a good sound.

I got this six string banjo about two or three weeks ago, I have been a guitar player since 1957 so I do have a lot of playing experience. I usually do not buy an instrument that I have not played but I thought this was a good buy and decided to go with it. Turns out I have some kind of issue with my fingers where there is tingling in all my fingertips and this is killing my guitar playing and my ability to type. As for the banjo though, it came as promised and was a beautiful instrument. I did have to tighten the strings to bring it up to pitch but that is no big deal. It was packaged nicely and had tools with it. The finish was beautiful and the sound was decent, I am not exactly sure what I was expecting but it worked well. To make a long story short Amazon did everything right. The banjo came as ordered, it was a good instrument and the return went seamlessly. I am very pleased with this. It is a great value for the money. Sounds good and frets easy. I plan to order another.

Theres a reason this is so significantly cheaper than any similar instrument. The sound is really bad. The bridge arrived way too low. My buddy moved it up a bit and it sort of helped a little but the low E string is still almost unplayable. If you want a nice wall decoration its worth the money but otherwise Id suggest you save some more money.

Amazing banjo for the priceEasy to play if you are a guitar player

This is without a doubt the worst thing I have ever seen called a banjo. I didn’t expect much at the price. I expected to have to set it up from scratch but this is nothing but a poorly manufactured, incompetently assembled instrument imaginable. It was nicely packaged to prevent shipping damage so it obviously left China in this condition. This would be a $5 yard sale item at best. Please don’t waste your money or time.
