The story is about how Chickadee finds out that there is going to be changes because Bobby and Joey who normally feed them are not going to any more because they are going to the city to work for their Aunt Lucy. But all the birds were worried because of Chickadee Chick’s news might mean they have to find a new place to live. I thought Bobby and Joey were nice helping Chickadee Chick and I thought it was funny how Chickadee Chick’s parents acted just like people parents when they couldn’t find where Chickadee Chick was. And what happens in the book at the end is really good and my favorite pictures are of Chickadee before, during and after flying on his own which is sooooooo funny and the picture of the Chickadee family flying at the end was soooooo cute. I think Chickadees are really cute and before the book I didn’t know what Chickadees or Cardinals were. There are also other types of birds in this book like Blue Jays, Finches and Doves which are all very very cute. Actually, one of my favorite things to do is make a bird feeder out of peanut butter and pine cones but my cat tried to get the birds so mommy had to put it up much much higher. So remember to put bird feeders in places cats can’t reach. There are also really cool activities at the end of this book that I printed out for me and my little brother during our vacation. My little brother liked the color by number and helping Chickadee through the maze best and my favorites were the crossword puzzle, connect the numbers and color by numbers, too. This book is lots of fun and I hope to read more Chickadee books very soon. .-. /'v'\ (/ \) ='="="===< |_| Review: SPREADING HIS WINGS - Chickadee Chick is a rambunctious young chick who is curious but not cautious. He has a habit of leaving the nest even though his wings are not fully developed. When Chick overhears Bobby and Joey say that they are going to work in the city this summer, he spreads the news to the other birds. They fear they will have to move if no one fills the bird feeders. Chick's curiosity leads to his discovery that the boys' cousin, Emily, will be staying at the farm and she will be filling the feeders. Turns out that Chick saves the day, after all. this is a cute picture book. Unfortunately, in the kindle version the illustrations don't line up with the text and they are rather small. I would still recommend the book as a cute bedtime story for children ages three through six.

Chickadee Chick ~ The Bennett Farm Series ~ Book 1
I want to thank Nerina DiBenedetto, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy of Chickadee Chick that I won in the Giveaway. Chickadee Chick is a cute story of a little bird, Chickadee Chick that hears two boys talking and spreads the word to his family and neighbors to help his community. The second day he goes to listen to the two boys again and finds out the problem for the community is solved and again he shares it with his family and friends. Chickadee Chick is a good story to start a discussion with preschool children about the importance of the community and helping others.

I'm a little torn between three and four stars for this one... I didn't think it was SUPER great. I felt it went a little too fast and was lacking on the introductions even for a kids book. I can see the valuable lesson to teach your kids in it, but the Kindle version wasn't set up great, either. It would have been better to have the words on the same pages with some of the pictures, because with the way it was, the pictures seemed kind of irrelevant when I got to them, so that I had to look at them for way to long, and a couple of times go back and reread to figure out what they were showing. I went ahead and gave four stars for the activities at the back of the book. Since I have the Kindle version, they're kind of useless to me, but I still think they're really neat. Note: I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways.

See how a little bird that apparently seems to get in trouble every time his parents are not around turned out to be a hero? While reading this story, I was amazed at the watchful nature of the cardinal bird that rescued the chickadee chick. This book is definitely a book to have in your collection. Whether you are a parent, a teacher, or even and librarian, this book is a delight. You will also see the caring and nurturing nature of the two brothers towards the birds and how they take their privilege of feeding those beautiful creatures seriously. A more noticeable connection is made when the birds begin to contemplate the Old McDonalds farm. This story is nicely written and organized. Definitely and outstanding reading material, and you get some cool games to play at the end.

It is such a beautiful story of courage and a spirit of never giving ...
In this book, the little chickadee bird is actually not careless; instead he is determined and diligent in his efforts to contribute something to his community. The food situation is one that could potentially affect all the birds who feed at the farm. It was little who was the first to notice that the feeding might stop and it was him also who was the first to hear about the solution. It is such a beautiful story of courage and a spirit of never giving up. And for the rest of us bird feeders, what a remarkable way to see things from the perspective of these little creatures that we are delighted to see come to our yards or feeders each and every day. Great story and definitely one that brings family ties together.

Sweet
I won this in Goodreads First Reads giveaway! It was a fun and sweet read to share with my four year old at bed time. She enjoyed the illustrations and was singing Chickadee Chick's name throughout the house. Her favorite part was when he fell in to the lilac bush. She also found it hilarious that a bird could get grounded. I will be recommending it to my mom friends.
