Love, love, love this pan
I love, love, love this Viking Contemporary 3-Ply Stainless Steel Sauté Pan with Lid, 3.6 Quart. I had a house fire and my kitchen was destroyed so I am having to replace all of my cookware. I was already in love with tri ply stainless cookware because of the excellent heat conduction, lack of non-stick materials, and easy of care so I was certainly going to get stainless steel again. I started looking for my favorite pans, which were Calphalon, but they were out of stock for a couple of weeks so I began looking at other choices. I had always heard good things about Viking and they has glass, rather than solid stainless steel, so I bought an 8qt stock pot. I was so delighted with it, I ordered this one and I think it is far superior to my Calphalon pans, which I adored. First off, it's unusually deep for a pan this size, which makes it so versatile. You can saute, fry, and cook in it. In fact, the first think I cooked in it was a rice pilaf with wonderful results. I used to have a shallower pan with 2 helper handles that I used for rice but this pan works brilliantly. The glass on the lid is super thick and tempered. It has a heavy duty, stainless steel collar around it so it fits snugly on the pan. There are two vent holes in the glass to prevent boil overs. The handle is stainless steel and be warned that it does get hot. The pan itself has a stainless steel outer layer that is polished to a mirror finish. It has a stainless steel handle that doesn't get hot when in use. There is a helper handle opposite the long handle. There are helpful measurement markings etched inside the pan. It's truly a beautiful pan. And wow does it perform. It heats evenly with no hot spots. This is because of the inner layer of aluminum, which is a fantastic conductor of heat. And because this inner layer runs all the way up the sides of the pan, you get glorious, even, heat throughout the pan. It works with gas, electric or induction ranges and can be put in the oven. As with all cookware, allow the pan to cool before putting water in to wash it to avoid warping. Stainless steel can be kept looking brand new with Barkeepers Friend. I also deglaze my pans, which makes the cleaning process a snap. Whether you like non-stick or cast iron or tri-ply stainless is a personal choice but if you are looking for tri-ply, this is a wonderful pan. I am anxious for the 4.8qt saute pan to come back into stock as I will be buying that, too.

Work Horse of a Pan
This is my favorite pan. What a beast! I meal prep in this bad boy and the quality is superb. Makes me feel like a pro when I'm cooking, it's VERY consistent on the heat. Stainless stickiness is exactly what I expected and works great when you oil it the right way. Looks amazing and cooks even better. A bit more money than you'd expect for the value, but you're buying it for life for sure.

Great quality, heavy
If you have a problem lifting heavy pans, this is kind of heavy. But it is the smaller everyday pan (3.6 qt) so it is manageable. It is my new everything pan. I’m cooking for only two now as kids are grown. Initially I didn’t have the amounts down very well, so it seemed on the small side. But it’s really the perfect size for 2 with leftovers or a family of four. You just have to get used to cooking smaller amounts. When I do that right, this is the perfect pan. Heats evenly on medium. Cooks everything great. Hand wash though if you want it to stay looking new.

Loving this pan!
Replaced kitchen stove with glass top and purchased these stainless steel pans to cook with. Excellent choice! The pans are being used in line with the manufacturer's instructions. Pre-heat oiling and no real high heat. Vented lids! They clean up great! Food usually slides right out of the pans. Slight scrubbing every now and then, but holding up very well. Great looking too!

Outstanding Superior Viking Quality
If you’re looking to pull the trigger on a stainless steel sauté pan this is the one! Its build quality is superb with a nice heavy duty feel to it. Even the lid is among the nicest I’ve ever seen or felt. It has a very solid feel too — with two small vent holes built into the glass; allowing it to vent freely so you can see through the glass clearly. The heat distribution is ideal, and the pan is heavy enough that warping will never be an issue. Heat first, then add the oil, and nothing will stick. If, by chance, something ever does: simply fill it with some hot water and a little Dawn, and let it soak. It’ll come out.

I’m Hooked!
I was skeptical about buying this very expensive searing pan for $120, but it turns out to be one of my best purchases ever: It was worth every dollar! I received it today and read and followed every instruction that came with the pan and I had no problems searing and cooking my Chili Colorado recipe. For the first time ever, my roast chuck seared absolutely beautifully and tasted buttery, juicy, and tender. I can’t wait to make pot roast. I have a gas stove top. The pan does keep heat beautifully as well as distributes heat very evenly. The meat cooks perfectly tender; I could cut the meat with a spoon. There's only one weird thing: after washing the top and drying it and putting back on the pan, the rubber seal holds on to water and it keeps running slightly small amounts of water until it dries on its own. I just kept using paper towels to dry both the pan and it’s top until it stopped doing that. After about two or three days, the top stopped leaking. Weird but I’m still keeping it. Now I’m hooked on Viking cookware.

Great quality pan!
This is an excellent quality pan. Very large, even heat distribution and easy to clean (as far as pans go because I HATE washing pans). My husband bought this so we can cook items that aren't recommended for our cast iron and black steel pans (ie tomato sauces, etc) and we specifically do not buy pans with nonstick coating anymore. I'm so glad he tried this one. Were going to start replacing our sauce pans with tag these as needed. These will last a long time.

I have a vikings saucepan and been eyeing this saute pan for a while. I bought it while it was on sale. The delivery was quick but the pan was dented at the base. Won't recommend this because good stainless steel pans don't dent just as easily.
