Q: Wouldn't this work with the 1st Gen by putting a spacer around the plug since it's smaller than 2nd gen?

I suppose, but why do that when you can find the same plug for the 1st gen on here.

Devise is just a holder. As long as your plug on google nest is Round, yes it should work.

Q: Does it also fit for the UK version?

No. It doesn’t fit the UK plug.

Q: Does this have a magnet to hold unit in place?

No the plug holds the holder in place. NOTE this works perfect for the NEST Mini but the power plug for the HOME Mini is slightly smaller so is not a good fit.
