Q: Is it thick enough to withstand a move and not tear. I have a queen sized plush bed.

NO. This bag is only 2 mil thick. To put that into perspective, the plastic sold for gardens it 3 times thicker (6 mil) and a Hefty garbage bag is 3 mil. You know those cheap clear bags they use for small office trash cans? Those are 1.5 mil and painter's plastic (very flimsy) is usually 1 to 2 mil.

Q: Will this work for a mattress that is 14.5" deep?

Yes. We used it to move a 15 inch mattress; there was plenty of room to spare. We did not, however, put the box spring in the bag with the mattress.

Q: Will it cover a California king size mattress?

If you purchased the Cal King size, yes it will. I bought the two pack and it fit both the cal king mattress in one and both box springs in the other.
