Lee Precision 45/70 Factory Crimp Die

I use this on all my .45-70 reloads, just to make sure the bullet stays where it should. I crimp lightly so as not stress the case mouth, and fatigue the brass. Works Great!

The factory crimp die does the perfect job

I use this crimp to work up loads in my Ruger Marlin lever actions. Works great. Don’t over-crimp! That can dangerously raise cartridge and chamber pressures. Keep reloading and stay safe out there

I am very set in my ways, in my old age. I bought a very nice set of Hornady reloading dies to load .45-70. a three die set, resizer/deprimer, belling, and seating bullet/crimp dies. It rubbed me the wrong way, having to seat the bullet and crimp at the same time. using separate dies for the process, in straight wall cases, makes it easier, for me at least, to adjust the dies. I think I get better results, too. the lee factory crimp die was just the best tool for the job. a quality die, at a very fair price. the results were/are spot on. a just right crimp, and I can continue to be set in my ways. I have several of the lee factory crimp dies, that have a place on my handgun reloading toolheads. do not hesitate to give them a try, you will be glad you did. I sure do like them.

The factory crimp die puts a solid collet style crimp on your bullet even without a crimp groove. I got it to go with my Lee .45-70 dies  Lee Precision 45/70 3 Die Steel , but found that the roll crimp I get with the seating die works well for my needs. I'll split my next batch between a roll crimp and collet style crimp, and see which performs better in my BFR (mostly to see if the OAL changes in the other cartridges in the cylinder during firing.)

I needed a factory crimp die to put a good roll crimp on my 45-70. It works like I would expect.

I installed the die and promptly stuck a 45-70 case permanently in the die. I looked at the die and it said .308Win. The order and box said 45-70. It was promptly credited and another order placed for the next day arrival. The replacement was correct and works perfectly.

Super Ware, gibt nichts besseres, bedeutet zwar ein Arbeitsgang mehr aber es lohnt sich. Bei Setzmatrizen mit Crimp Funktion kommt es schon mal vor das die Hülse gestaucht wird beim Crimpen weil die Hülse zu lang ist, das gibt es mit dieser Matrize nun nicht mehr.

this works so slick you shouldn't be with out it. This is so easy to set up and the finished product is better than factory loadings, people chose my reloaded over a factory sample when asked which is factory and which is reloaded. So much frustration is saved over trying to get seating and crimp in one step with the 3 die sets, yes it is one more step to finished round however it is so worth it, I wouldn't do any other way now.
