Jonathan Adler Jet Set Shelter Island Ocean Candle

I am a crazy candle lady - I go through so many! I've always got at least three nice candles in the house and burn them down within a few weeks. This is one of the better ones and it's around my usual mid-range price point. The Havana (tobacco) scent is fabulous and unisex; my fiance says it's not an offensive scent, which is a compliment coming from him. It burns cleanly and evenly from one side of the container to the other. It doesn't have the best reach like a $60+ candle, but it's better than cheaper candles, and worth it for the pleasant scent. If you're in the same room you can definitely smell it. I would consider buying again (even though I'm continuatlly looking for a new scent)!

JA's Big Sur (Forest) candle does remind me of Big Sur. Tall trees giving off their luscious scent (and hiding their secrets), wood burning in the fireplace, waves crashing on the sand, and otters playing in the ocean. Takes me back.By far, this is his best candle. If it matters, the candle is dark orange and the glass holder is brown, not white as it shows online.As a P.S., the only con is JA's candles do not burn evenly. Ever. And yes, the wick is cut each time and for the first time it is used, the candle is burned for a minimum of 2 hours.

My boyfriend and I drove down Pacific Coast Highway and we loved the smell of the forests- I got him this candle for his birthday and we love to burn it and be reminded of our vacation. The packaging is also beautiful and very giftable, even for a boy.

This candle is amazing. I first smelled this candle in the Jonathan Adler store in Portland and am happy to say this is in fact authentic. The smell is wonderful, it takes me back to driving with the windows down through Big Sur (appropriate name) with my boyfriend up highway 1. Think woods with a touch of the sea. It also comes in a classy container. It is a touch masculine so works great in co-ed households.

Love this scent.There mustbe a better way to ship this in the heat of the summer, mine was spilled into the box and I lost a good amount of wax.

Smells so good — amazing really — but it’s made with paraffin wax, a petroleum product, that releases toxic chemicals into your home when burned. I wish they would eliminate the blend and just use a natural soy wax instead. Burns clean and doesn’t leave soot deposits.

I keep these candles on hand for the perfect gift on a pinch. All of the Adler candles have a beautiful rich fragrance that is more potent than many others, and much more chic than a Yankee candle ;).

This is great smelling candle, can almost compete with Diptyque but it's 1/2 the price. It has a smokey / musky scent with hints of floral.If you love a deeper, musk fragrance, you'll love this.Not necessarily masculine, but it's not floral or sweet.Candle burns evenly across which helps it last a long time.
