I Am Recovered: A Simple Story of Overcoming Addiction Paperback – November 1, 2019

It would have been easy for this memoir to have been nothing more than a hagiography, but the truth saved it. Reading it you can feel the honesty cutting both ways. Not only is the positive not overplayed, but the negative, all the bad things, is not overly dramatized. It just feels like a true story. In fact, you feel like, when you get to the end, you have just been sitting face to face with Todd as he told you his story.To give this little book the top rating I had to overlook a few stylistic weaknesses as well as a few--a very few--solecisms; but I believe it should be viewed, and reviewed, for its message and not its form. That's not to say that the style in any way interferes with the readability of the book. In fact, it gives the book that cachet of genuineness that makes you think, This is true.

This book had a limited 99 cent trial on kindle. But I love books to mark up and apply to my life! I am SOOO glad I have the hard copy. This is a compelling “story”; but the amount of guidance and suggestions for changing our behaviors and self inflicted expectations is undoubtedly the BEST I have ever read! The author authentically writes from personal experience and if you put his tools to work, you will find yourself being excited to waiting for more!So fantastic, I will be purchasing more copies for my 5 adult daughters!

This is a great book to improve all aspects of your life. This is a must read.

This book will touch your soul in a way that you won’t expect. I found myself tearing up again and again. In the book Todd takes you through the twists and turns of his life and shares the gems of wisdom he has learned to help others with their journey. My favorite line from the book is that “I choose to believe that the events of my life happened for me rather than to me.” That line is so true and Todd is a shining example of this. This book is a must read!

Todd’s true story is one of hope for anyone that is struggling with life’s challenges, which is basically all of us! His willingness to be honest creates a powerful example of how we can all change negative thoughts and behaviors. His story shows us God loves us wherever we’re at and despite anything we’ve done. Todd’s story inspires us all because he’s real, honest and present, helping us realize we can adapt these same traits to overcome any struggles and challenges in our own lives.

Todd truly knows what he is talking about. He speaks from the heart. It's pure and true. Todd really understands the struggle of addiction. I never met a human being more dedicated to helping people, and truly believing in a full recovery that turns your life in to beauty, and happiness. This book is inspiring. I guarantee you it will leave you with hope, strength, and willpower. Thank you Todd for changing my life. When I hit rock bottom I met Todd Sylvester and my life changed.

I liked this book because it tells an inspiring story of beating the odds. This book clearly shows how we can focus on conquering the bully inside us. Todd's book motivates us to act now to make the world a better place for those around us. He shows how our actions can have a real impact on someone's life without even knowing it.

I know Todd and love the guy, there is no one like him. He has made a huge impact on my life and could not wait for this book to come out. This book gives you a look into what addiction is like and how hard it can be to over come it.
