Jiva Organic Bay Leaves Whole 8 Ounce Bulk Bag

I almost never write reviews anymore because I purchase so much from Amazon, but these Bay Leaves deserve fabulous praise. The usual bay leaf is overly dry, broken and/or crumbly, flavorless, tiny and just not even worth mentioning, however, these Jiva Bay Leaves are simply over the top, HUGE, FULL of FLAVOR, PERFECTLY FORMED, and just literally unbelievable. I have used bay leaves since I started cooking at 17 and now I'm 65 so I have almost 50 years of buying and using them. I use them in everything because the herbal flavor works with so many dishes such as soups, stews, casseroles, stir-fry, fermented veggies, even jams and I use it in a special skin care cream using orange, bay leaf and olive oil (find it on-line.) Always I have shrugged my shoulders at the small bits in my dishes and am just grateful they did their part to enhance things. When I ordered these Jiva leaves I had low or no expectations. I thought nothing of 8 oz as being anything much, BUT WHEN I OPENED THEM, AND USED THEM, I COULDN'T, AND STILL CAN'T, BELIEVE HOW HUGE THEY ARE. The bag is literally stuffed full of beautiful, large leaves and it would fill up a large bowl. I wish I didn't have a million things to do so I could take pictures of them in the recent dishes I have prepared. They hold up to hours and even overnight cooking in the crockpot and come out perfectly formed and look like they were just picked off the tree. The flavor is 100 times that of any other bay leaf I have ever bought and I am just amazed at the quality and quantity in the package. It will last me at least two years, but I will probably order more soon because I am having so much fun with these delightful beauties. I love a good deal and this is one I just had to shout out about. Order and you will fall in love with this company. (Not affiliated in any way whatsoever.) Just super happy about this product.PS. I make my own dog food and the flavor is perfect as it does not overpower the dish like many herbs do. Bay leaf is full of vitamins and minerals and it is a great antioxidant.!

You will truly be blown away with the taste of this product. The size of the leaves are HUGE, so go easy on them. I seriously laughed out loud when I open the bag! Unbelievable the aroma that hit me, absolutely beautiful. I was so excited to cook every recipe that needed these bay leaves.I will be buying more of this company’s products in hopes they will all be as top of the line and this spice.BTW In America we pay outrageous prices for some spice, right? This price, the size, taste, aroma and the amount you get.. you know you just hit the Jack pot and found a great company selling a top notch product.RECOMMENDED x100!

These are not Bay Laurel, they are Indian bay leaf, no idea why they have Laurel pictured on the bag. (Facepalm) Add to that, more than half are ugly, old, bad leaves, and the rest have zero aroma of any kind. DO NOT BUY THESE.

In cooking or as pesticide control formula .

Nice package great amount for the money. We use them often. The tannin is great for making crock dill pickles along with grape leaves. The leaves give the pickles crispness. Great in soup also.

What is the Latin name of the leave, it does not seem to be what I am familiar with. No herb shall be sell without the Latin name. I am not sure what to make of it, bought it for a tea for arthritis. Disappointed.

Pictures can be so deceptive and confusing with some products so for this reason I purchased a bit more than I thought I would need going with the 8oz option and Wow it’s a lot lol.As big as a large bag of beef jerky, packed full if you could imagine that. I plan on using the leaves for a tonic tea, brewed gallons at a time so this will be an adequate amount to start. Still unopened so can’t comment much more …

The leaves are huge, without any smell, feel like random tree leaves.
