How many parakeets can fit in this cage?

It's amazing what you can find on the internet if you look. Here's a handy budgie cage size calculator. Plug in your dimensions (I did 43x43x72) and it will give you the number of birds. 35 in my case here. Amazing! I can't vouch for the accuracy or verifiability of the calculator. This product says "jumbo" in the ad headliner, but then says "small" where it says size. What are the dimensions of this product?

This corner cage is available in 2 sizes. XL size is temporarily out of stock, S size is: Bar Spacing: 5/8" Bar Gauge: 1/8" Dimensions: H63.5 x 30 x 30(without seed skirt) Door size: H32 x W15.5

Can the grates be safely removed? Would the bird be able to escape if you removed the grates?

There are slidable grates as well as seed trays that are removable under the wire grate bottom of the cage so that the seeds and mess can be cleaned without letting the birds out.

Do the birds actually use the space below or is there alot of wasted space?

The birds definitely appreciate the extra space, and it is so easy to clean.
