A must-have if you work on your own appliances
I work on a lot of my own stuff, including my appliances, and I like keeping some common parts in stock. For my dryer I keep a belt, a couple of idler wheels, and a thermal fuse kit in a box that is clearly labeled. All those parts probably cost me less than $30, but their real value is in not having much down time when things break. My dryer just blew a thermal fuse a few weeks back. It was Sunday night, there was a load of wet clothes in the dryer and another in the washer, and I knew I'd be tearing a dryer apart. Fortunately, my dryer is pretty easy to work on. There are plenty of videos online detailing how to disassemble various dryer models so make sure you find the right one. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE DRYER FIRST. I cannot stress this enough. If you shake hands with 240 volts of electricity, it will be very unpleasant at best and lethal at worst. On my dryer I had to remove the hot air duct to access the thermal fuse. I tested the old fuse with an ohmmeter (again, MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF). It showed infinite resistance, IE an open circuit. The fuse is there to pop (become an open circuit) if the temperature climbs too high. The result, depending on which fuse blows, is a dryer that will not run, or that will run but will not produce any heat. In my case, the dryer was dead as a doornail. This is fairly common, especially on older thermal fuses, and often indicates something like a lot of lint buildup in the dryer (which retains heat and pops the fuse). I took this opportunity to vacuum out the copious amounts of lint, debris, loose change, etc. that I found in various nooks and crannies. You should do this too in order to prevent the new fuse from popping prematurely. I cleaned everything up, wired in a new fuse, and reassembled the dryer. In another 5 minutes it was running and drying my clothes. I tend to do laundry in batches so my dryer may run for 5-6 hours at a time on the weekend, then sit idle all week. The new fuse has been doing this for about a month now with zero problems. This kit costs less than $6. Buy it, keep it somewhere safe, and learn to replace the fuse if you don't already know how. For bonus points, buy a belt kit as well. If (when) your dryer breaks at 6PM on a Sunday, you'll be back drying clothes by 6:45, and you'll have spent less than you would on a cheeseburger.

I loved the quality and quantity of this. I installed the thermal fuse all by myself. It made my dryer heat my clothes at a good temperature. Thanks.

Arrived a day earlier than expected and fits perfectly in my Inglis dryer and the dryer started. Hope it works fine. I'll update if doesn't work after a few cycles of drying. Cheers.

What more can I say. It took more effort to get behind the dryer than to replace the fuse.
