Big Fantasy Coloring Book in Grayscale - 100 Illustrations to Color by Molly Harrison: Grayscale Adult Coloring Book featuring Fairies, Mermaids, Witches, and More! 100 Pages to Color!

Some of the best pictures I’ve seen for coloring. I have spent a lot of time working on this book without getting bored.

UPDATE: Two things to update…1). The pencils, Farber Castell Polychromos, Prismacolor Premier, & Black Widow blend better than I expected. 2). Why are there pictures of mermaids with wings? I posted examples. It doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of coloring the pictures. But, mermaids swim. They don’t fly. I know it’s a little thing. But, I find it odd.ORIGINAL: This book has beautiful illustrations. The title is BIG FANTASY COLORING BOOK. Well, it really is BIG. It’s thicker, taller, & wider than most of my books. I deducted 1 star because of the paper quality. It’s not terrible. But, it’s not close to the quality of paper used in Johanna Basford’s books. The paper is a bit thin & lacks the tooth that allows easy blending. You’ll need to use a light touch when blending. The books illustrations are so lovely that I’m willing to overlook the paper quality. You could slice out the pictures & copy them onto a higher quality stock if you really prefer to. The book is broken into 3 themed sections: Mermaids, Fairies, & Witches/Halloween Type (Kind of fairies that have bat like wings or look a bit vampire like. The majority of pictures have a moon in them & some have a bit too much blank space around the drawn figure. These illustrations allow the colorist to let their imagination run wild. I’d recommend not sticking to conventional ideas such as blond or brown hair and skin tones. Have some fun. There are enough pictures that you don’t have to feel bad if a few don’t meet your creative expectations when you’re done coloring them. I prefer to use pencils when coloring greyscale w/ the occasional touch of gel pen if a pop is needed. I do recommend putting a piece of thin cardboard or a file folder behind the picture you’re coloring to avoid damaging the pictures behind it due to how thin the paper is. If you use markers, they will definitely bleed through. All in all, I feel the book is worth the price. I appreciate the whimsical feel of the illustrations & their overall quality. I haven’t colored in years and forgot how much I truly enjoyed it. I was browsing for a few new books and stumbled across this enormous beautifully illustrated grayscale book by Molly Harrison. I absolutely fell in love with the few pages I found online and honestly didn't expect to find more than a handful that I would want to spend time coloring simply because I had never purchased a grayscale coloring book and didn't think the colors could be vibrant. I was obviously wrong. The pic is my first ever attempt and though it's still a work in progress. I am very pleased with how it's coming along. Most of my recent book purchases have been by Rita Berman and Johanna Basford but this purchase has definitely made me a fan of Molly Harrison. I'm no expert when it comes to paper types and have just recently purchased some watercolor pencils to add a little variety to my Prismas and Gels. The first picture took all 3 color types very well. The flower is a combo of watercolor pencils with a few dots of gel while the fairy is mostly Prisma with a touch of gel in some areas. No bleeding or seeping through but then again I tend to be very light handed and try to take my time layering. Bottom line is that I'm incredibly happy with this purchase and the price was well worth it for such an amazing book. Definitely recommend. UPDATE: Finished my 2nd page in this amazing book. Love how it turned out, love the beautiful variety of images and am already happily engrossed in my newest work in progress. Will definitely be making additional purchases soon!!

Gorgeous coloring book! Everything is very detailed and allows creativity to shine. The only problem I have with this is the fact they have witches in it.. I dont really mind Halloween stuff but im not a fan of witches, so I gave it 4 stars. If it was just mermaids and fairies then it would be perfect! One thing I love about it is the pictures where they have the women and they're holding their babies in their arms.. Its so adorable! I'll add photos later but its just so perfect, nothing you would expect for the price given which is good <3

I'm happy with my purchase for the price it's probably my best quality coloring book I own now! I've tried several artists but this girl really nailed it! The paper is good quality for pencil, Marker, Or gel pens unlike many others I own that bleed or tear. There's the perfect amount of detailing and not too much wasted blank space in the background, she really utilizes the whole page whereas some artists just leave a blank background or they'll use a single figure with lots of flowy hair to take up some space. The pages are single sided which is good because my markers bleed a little, but that doesn't take away from the amount of artwork, there's still 100 pages of nice work! Characters each have different and beautiful features and some different cute fairy/mermaid themes. best book I've received for the price I will probably splurge on more from this artist!

I’m just starting to color as a hobby. Some of these pictures have really small details that are hard to color but most are fun to learn with. You have all the different nature textures: trees, skies, mists, grass, stones, bubbles, glowing lights, flowers, water, underwater scenes to learn with. Plus, you have different types of clothing, mermaid tails, fairy wings, skin tones and hair to practice on.I’m really glad this is one of my first books.

I am very disappointed in this coloring book. It's in gray scale but the gray is just too dark. I bought one of her other coloring books & the shading was perfect. Plus, when I used my colorless blending pencil the gray smeared into the picture.

Haven't seen any color book with fairy,witches & mermaids 14 yr old grand daughter always grabs this book

This woman has an awesome imagination and her ability as an artist should be praised. Thank you Molly Harrison your art gives me something to smile about when I look in your books.
