I was skeptical for the price, I have dealt with magnetic knife strips at work, being a chef and some of them either will not hold a full size knife or will just hold it like glue and diminish the ease of use, this one is nice. On the right side where I have the small paring knives you can really tell where the magnetic boundaries are and the knife will want to center itself right there, toward the left where I have my large blades they fit exactly where I placed them and hold tight, but not too tight to where I could not grab them easily. Takes up far less space on the countertop than a conventional block and for sanitation it is a lot easier to keep a slab of wood clean then slots on a knife block, also, not all knife blocks will accommodate that big 10" Mercer chef knife. No worries about blade rub and dulling, no sanitation worries, I can shove a couple pot holders behind it for easy access, this is a great counter top alternative to a conventional knife block

This is a very nice knife block. Holds all my knives and there is nothing to put together- just take out of box and it’s ready to use. My only complaint - the back is not quite tall enough to hold an 8 in. Chef’s knife without hitting the bottom so I had to put something under the tip to stop it scratching the bottom.This is a nice product & I do recommend it.

The magnet is strong enough to hold our large high quality chefs knives, and even a meat cleaver. However, the base is not heavy enough remain stable when you pull a knife off the block. The whole thing moves if you don't slowly and carefully pull the knife upwards. Like if you pull forwards instead of up, you're liable to knock the whole thing over.I solved this problem with command strips - with 4 strips affixed to the countertop the base does not move when you pull off a knife. Not ideal, seeing how countertop need to be cleaned often, but we'll see how it goes. I have a feeling I'll be replacing this thing after awhile.Overall I like the block, but the fact that it's not stable during normal use is a pretty critical design flaw.

I used to have a magnetic strip, but in our new house there is no wall space for one. After years of dealing with block (and being frustrated because I'm picky with my knives and knife block always have a "set" number of slots that never match up to my knives) I saw this and was thrilled. It sits nicely on my counter, holds my 7' chef knife, my 8" sankou knife, a bread knife, a carving knife, a 9" slicer and a pair of scissors. doesn't tip (and helps hid the cord to my blender).

Looks Great on the Counter, Holds the Essentials for Display and Easy Access. The magnets are strong enough to hold most knives; but note, only the one side is magnetized. This is a nice piece, I would not hesitate to recommend of buy as a gift. Make sure to get a feel for removing the knives as to not tip over the board. Gently twist the knife onto its spine side, and you're ready to go!

Researched these for a ridiculous amount of time before deciding on this one. I was specifically looking for something that was more of a Cherry color rather than Pine and this one fits what I envisioned. The magnet is strong on both sides of the board. The catch is to pull the knife up rather than straight away from the board because the magnet is so strong. It looks great on my counter and showcases my Chef and paring knives nicely. Recommend this highly!

This is super attractive and it holds knives on the front and back so you can display your “prettier” ones!

I didn't want a traditional block for my knives. This is just great. The wood is attractive, the magnetized part works well (strong, but not hard to remove knives) and it doesn't take up much counter space. Also I can see exactly which knife I which and I don't have to remember handles or pull out a few before I get what I want.
