Woodstock’s psychotic cousin
The media could not be loaded.  Meet Woodchuck, Woodstock’s slightly deranged psychotic cousin, who can normally only be found in an institute for the Criminally Insane. He suffers from “erectile” dysfunction (his feathers are floppy) and regularly appears drunk, due to his habit of leaning to one side. Don’t expect him to fly either - one wing is bigger than the other.I thought Woodstock would be the easiest of the two Peanuts characters that are available, to do. Sadly, I was mistaken, but at least he gives me a good giggle.I love the way that this is packaged, and it comes with all the bits you’ll need. I was a bit worried about the amount of wool I received (the kit contains two 50g balls), however I was left with about half a ball, and still plenty of stuffing. (His head could have used a little more, but I was worried about overstuffing him.) For the sewing side of things (his eyes, mouth, and attaching everything), you get a pink plastic needle, but I found this too large and used my own, more narrow needle. The instructions are well laid out and relatively easy to follow. It’s split into sections (head, body, wings etc), although I did admittedly get ahead of myself a couple of times and do something wrong. I had to restart three times by the time I’d got to row 5 of the head. I’m the kind of girl who wants to see results instantly, so it was frustrating to see it only take shape when the nose expanded to the rest of the head. This is made even more difficult by the fact I initially thought I was working from the head down - you’re actually working from the nose back.I did have some quibbles with the instructions for the wings/feathers/legs/tail - they’re all the same pattern with some very VERY minor differences. I suppose this is intended to make it easy, but for some reason, all of my feathers/wings/tail ended up looking different, even though I followed the pattern correctly - that I’m aware of. Making them all similar patterns does smack of laziness a little, but I managed to get past it. Even if Woodchuck now has one wing bigger than the other - stop flying in circles Woodchuck! The legs I had to modify, as following the pattern, they came out not much bigger than the feathers/wings, so I made them twice as long and then skipped about half of the pattern. So the legs aren’t exact, but they look better than the wee stumps he had originally.Again, it may be down to mistakes I’ve made, or my method of crocheting, but I could not fit five feathers onto his head, without him looking ridiculous. I’m tempted to say I may have done, if I hadn’t stitched the head to the body first of all (bad girl, not following the instructions.) Or maybe I didn’t make the head big enough, but even then compared to the body, he’s quite top heavy.I would recommend buying some stitch markers, as I tended to lose track of what row I was on, even more so if I put it down and left it for a little while. You can pick these up at any haberdashery shop/department. Amazon brings up a whole list, but I ordered these  as they could come the next day. You could also use contrasting scraps of wool or a safety pin, for example. The pattern also brings up the rows when you least expect it, such as the eyes need to be in row 10 and the wings need to be affixed on row 8 of the body (row 8 from bottom or top though?)This is my first attempt at something like this, and I know it’s not perfect, and it had its moments (some swearing may have been directed at Woodchuck) but overall, I had a good time making it and I hope that I continue to improve. Would I say it’s ideal for beginners? Probably not. I think you do need to have some experience behind you, even with the handy how to guide. It does get quite frustrating at times and I really needed to work off that frustration on someone/something by the time I had finished. Snoopy  may end up getting a psychotic cousin too!

Not very beginner friendly
The description says it's for beginners but I'm unsure if I can completely agree. Everything that should have been included was present in my set, with the exception of the sewing needle but not a big deal since they're cheap to replace. As far as the tutorial, I found everything outside of building the foundation chain difficult to understand. I had to watch countless YouTube videos for basic stitches and still struggle to put it together, which should show how difficult it can be to follow the instructions on the provided pamphlet. Their website had not been much of a help either, since they're just demonstrating the different type of stitches already in the pamphlet. There aren't any step-by-step videos for it, so I wish you the best of luck as I'm still trying to assemble the doll. Also, be aware that the US and UK use different terminology for their stitches, so you have to be extra attentive to whom/what you're learning from, as it's easy to start mixing things up.At this point, I basically purchased the kit for the bag it comes in. You may be better off buying a ball of yarn and a hook for less than $15.

Disappointed
I had high hopes for this kit, but it has disappointed in a couple of ways:1) the crochet hook is thin, not ergonomically comfortable and is cheaply made2) the yarn is beautifully yellow but is poorly spun and so it separates into strands when used with the hook provided.3) instructions are nicely folded in an envelope but very uncomfortable to read because of the fold. I would’ve preferred an online instruction or a half sheet card.Overall, this is hugely overpriced for what it is: some yarn and instructions in neat packaging.
